Tim Trainer
by Tim Trainer
I was introduced to making music from age 4 or 5 when my dad took me to his band practice every week where I’d make the rounds “playing” drums, keyboards, an old upright piano, guitars and his ‘68 Fender P Bass (or 70’s MusicMan Stingray Bass). I owe a lot to the generosity and kindness of each of the band members. They were the catalyst that started me on my own musical path of discovery and creation that feeds my soul to this day. I continue to write, record, perform and cover the songs that move me (from the gypsy jazz era to present day), and I’m grateful for the chance to share it with others. Please check out my Instagram, amazingradio and YouTube pages for more, and my official debut EP “The Dakota EP” is streaming everywhere as well as for download on iTunes, Amazon and other sites as well! I appreciate any comments or feedback you may have to offer, if so moved. Thank you for listening, -Tim 🙏🏻✌🏻

Fields of Gold (Sting telecaster cover)
One night, back when I used to play 4 or 5 open mics a week, I figured out how to play “Fields of Gold” by Sting before leaving the house so I could perform it that night which I did. I recorded one live take of it before heading out. That was the only time I ever performed it and this is the only recording I have of this, which I just found among 10 boxes of hundreds of hours of recordings, mostly original with a few spontaneous exceptions like this one. As always, if you dig it please feel free to comment or repost! Thank you, Tim ✨🙏🏻✌🏻

In The Moment (original analog track)
“In The Moment” is another track of mine from the 4-Track cassette recording vault... I recently converted the master tape to mp3 so I could share more of that analog sound with others who dig it. This tune features my 70’s Westwood acoustic on one track, two vocal tracks, and lastly overdubbing my ‘68 Fender P Bass onto the final open track in one take that was improvised as I recall. I hope you dig this first ever release of a song I haven’t played for anyone until now! Please feel free to comment or repost if you enjoy it. Thank you! -Tim 🙏🏻✌🏻

I Look For You (original analog track)
“I Look For You” is an unreleased tune of mine recorded on my cassette 4-Track...I recently converted the analog master tape to mp3 so I could share it with those who dig the warm magical tape tones! If you dig it please feel free to comment or repost...Thank you! -Tim 🙏🏻✌🏻

Don’t Believe (original 4-Track version!)
This is the original cassette 4-Track version of my tune “Don’t Believe”...I just found and converted the analog master tape to digital. I have more analog recordings on the way soon...some have never been heard before, but I’ve been told by enough music lovers out there that they dig the analog tape “sound”, as do I. And yes I’m aware that ideally the vocals should be up in the mix haha...but that bird has flown so I hope you dig it for what it is. If so, please feel free to comment or repost! Thank you supremely, Tim ✨🙏🏻✌🏻

Waiting (original track)
“Waiting” is the very first song I ever wrote. I was 18 years old and living away from home for the first time. I’ve never recorded it due to the extremely personal feelings I have that inspired it, but the time felt right to finally record one take of it live at home. As always, if you dig it please feel free to comment or repost. Thank you! -Tim 🙏🏻✌🏻

She Whispers (original track)
“She Whispers” is an early tune I wrote and one of the first ones that came out fully finished in one shot, music and lyrics. I remember the feeling of channeling the song and just letting it be as I played it one afternoon on my acoustic guitar. Although I have an old 4 Track version of it, I decided to record it for the first time in quite a while...so here it is! If you dig it please feel free to comment or repost! Thank you, Tim ✨🙏🏻✌🏻

Float Away (original track)
“Float Away” is another song of mine from the 4 Track vault that I just converted from cassette tape to digital. I play an acoustic-electric guitar, a 70’s Fender Telecaster Deluxe and my 1968 Fender P Bass on it. Written as a result of experimenting with only using the capo on the lowest 4 strings of the 2nd fret (for anyone who cares to know haha), and letting the high E string and B strings ring out openly. I felt it made for an interesting sound. If you dig it please feel free to comment or repost! Thank you, Tim ✨🙏🏻✌🏻

Black Boys On Mopeds (Sinead O’Connor cover)
This is the first time Meg and I covered this gem of a song by Sinead O’Connor. Although it was released in 1990, its relevance and message unfortunately remains ever more poignant and heartbreakingly current to this day, 31 years later. We recorded this live in one take together, and hope the feeling we put into it comes through. Meg: lead vocal, Tim: acoustic guitar and backing vocal. Thank you so much for listening, if you like it please feel free to comment or repost! -Tim and Meg 🙏🏻✌🏻

Nevertheless (Brian Jonestown Massacre cover)
My girlfriend and I recently commandeered the acoustic room at Guitar Center and recorded half a dozen tunes we love, live in one take. This is a cover of “Nevertheless” by The Brian Jonestown Massacre. I picked a nice guitar I had never used before, pressed record on my iPhone, and we did our thing. It was pure fun, and totally in the moment. I recommend doing this if you have a good relationship w your local music shop, and a good relationship in general haha! As always if you dig it please feel free to comment or repost! Thank you, Tim and Meg 🙏🏻✌🏻

Not This Time (original track)
“Not This Time” is a song I wrote and recorded live at home with my telecaster and mic going through my guitar amp. This is the way I used to practice every day, so it was fun experimenting with a live electric sound setup again, as I look forward to performing out again. A lot. As always if you dig it please feel free to comment or repost! Thank you, Tim 🙏🏻✌🏻 p.s.- Chorus Lyrics: “And I won’t tempt you...not this time, And I won’t break you...not this time.”

A Body Broken (original track)
“A Body Broken” is a song I wrote a while back and I happened to be visiting a good friend of mine (Mark, aka “Esoteric Tapioca”) and he graciously let me use his acoustic and produced this one (and only) take I have of this tune. Thank you Mark...yes, I still have this somehow! Please check out the amazing music of Esoteric Tapioca on iTunes, Bandcamp, SoundCloud, etc. If you dig this deep cut of mine please feel free to comment or repost! Thank you 🙏🏻✌🏻-Tim

Inside Your Head (original analog track)
“Inside Your Head” is a song I wrote and recorded on my analog 4-Track at home. The music and lyrics of this tune came through fully realized, and something about it was different from anything I had ever written. For one, it’s sung completely falsetto. Also, it’s one of my only songs to ever feature a “guitar break” or semblance of a solo...in which I improvised a solo twice during the song. It was surprising bc I’ve always been a rhythm guitarist and knew little to nothing about playing a solo. It just kind of happened. If you dig it please feel free to comment or repost! Thank you 🙏🏻✌🏻-Tim

Whitney (original live acoustic version!)
This was my first time playing and recording my song “Whitney”, recorded live in one take with a friend’s acoustic guitar (while he, a drummer, played my electric guitar as accompaniment after showing him a few simple lead options!) Here is the outcome...stripped down with no effects, just FEELING. If you dig it please feel free to comment or repost! Thank you 🙏🏻✌🏻-Tim
