We had the privilege of speaking with Steward Pimienta, Senior Community Engagement Specialist at Travis Credit Union, who is not only an expert in financial education, but a hometown advocate born and raised right here in Solano County. From breaking cycles of financial struggle to creating new legacies of abundance and opportunity, Steward broke it down in a way that’s real, relatable, and actionable. Steward’s own journey by being intentional and smart with his finances, he was able to purchase his first home at just 23 years old. That’s the kind of real-life impact financial literacy can have when it starts early. Why this matters for youth: Learning about generational wealth early gives them a head start on financial independence. It builds confidence in managing money, planning for college, and making investments in their future. It helps close wealth gaps in marginalized communities by creating a ripple effect of financial literacy. It encourages young leaders to think long-term not just about surviving, but thriving.
