    The Retained List Review

It’s only a few sleeps ago we confirmed promotion back to League One at Crewe, but football never stops. Just as quickly, United have released the 25/26 retained list, saying goodbye to a host of faces who were crucial in securing our instant return to the third tier. Caspell, Jules and Swindle go over the list and talk about their favourite memories of our departing players, while also casting their eye over how the squad is starting to shape up for next season. Proper Geezers

We did it. At the first time of asking, Cambridge United have been promoted back to League One. And we did it in the nerviest way possible, drawing 0-0 at Crewe and waiting for a few agonising minutes as Salford couldn’t find the winner at Crawley that would leapfrog us. Join Matt, Tom and Jules as they relive the whole day, from pre-match nerves, a world famous beer garden, to the missed penalty, a feeling that all hope had gone, and then that moment that it was all confirmed. What a day and what a season. There will be plenty of pods over the next month, especially for Coconut Tier members so just scroll down to sign up if you want access to the best promotion content around. The Preview Show: Crewe (A)

Well, this is it everyone. Do or die (well, do or play-offs, I guess, but that’s less catchy). We know the equation: win and we’re up. It really is as simple as that… but when is football ever that simple? Matt and Jules are the nervy duo on the Preview Show which this week is an actual Thursday show, and it’s a bumper record featuring some press conference shame, guest voice notes, and an opposition preview thanks to the Railwaymen Pod. Keep those nerves at bay for a few more days, come on United!Subscribe to the Coconut Tier to get:📚At least one feature article every week🎧Bonus podcast content every month👕First dibs on upcoming merch dropsAnd you can show off to your mates that you support UTAS and you’re not a round dodger: https://www.undertheabbeystand.com/subscribeWe’re delighted to be sponsored by The Old Spring this year, and they’re offering some amazing deals for United fans:* Matchday Meal Deal: Before every CUFC home or away game, it’s just £15 for a burger (chicken, beef, or veggie), fish & chips, or skepasti (chicken or halloumi) + any beer.* Saturday Happy Hour: Every Saturday, 18:00–19:00pm, half-price beers.* Ticket Holder Discount: 10% off your food and drink anytime, any day of the week, with a CUFC season ticket or a match ticket for an upcoming game (cannot be used alongside Matchday Meal Deal or Saturday Happy Hour). You can find it at The Old Spring, 1 Ferry Path, Cambridge CB4 1HB, theoldspring.co.uk.Get in touch with the pod here:Socials: @AbbeyStandPod and Under The Abbey StandThis Substack is reader-supported. Put The Smirnoff Ice On Ice

It was, thankfully, a comfortable afternoon on Saturday. A 3-0 win in the glorious April sunshine at the Abbey that sent Barrow to the foot of the 92, and kept our fate on final day in our own hands. A win at Crewe and we’re back in League One at the first time of asking, anything else and we’ll be looking at our phones as Salford and Notts County are hot on our heels. Jord, Caspell and Tom are on for what is hopefully the second to last review show of the season looking back at Saturday afternoon. (PS - Apologies for a few mic issues in this episode, just a one-off technical problem)Subscribe to the Coconut Tier to get:📚At least one feature article every week🎧Bonus podcast content every month👕First dibs on upcoming merch dropsAnd you can show off to your mates that you support UTAS and you’re not a round dodger: https://www.undertheabbeystand.com/subscribeWe’re delighted to be sponsored by The Old Spring this year, and they’re offering some amazing deals for United fans:* Matchday Meal Deal: Before every CUFC home or away game, it’s just £15 for a burger (chicken, beef, or veggie), fish & chips, or skepasti (chicken or halloumi) + any beer.* Saturday Happy Hour: Every Saturday, 18:00–19:00pm, half-price beers.* Ticket Holder Discount: 10% off your food and drink anytime, any day of the week, with a CUFC season ticket or a match ticket for an upcoming game (cannot be used alongside Matchday Meal Deal or Saturday Happy Hour). You can find it at The Old Spring, 1 Ferry Path, Cambridge CB4 1HB, theoldspring.co.uk.Get in touch with the pod here:Socials: @AbbeyStandPod and Under The Abbey StandThis Substack is reader-supported. The Preview Show: Barrow (H)

This week has not gone to plan. A Tuesday night loss against Grimsby in our game in hand followed by Salford taking all three points against Bromley on Thursday means the promotion race will go to the final day. To keep it in our hands, we just need to beat a relegation-threatened Barrow on Saturday… it’s as simple as that. Matt and Jules are on to reflect on the run-in, chat what went wrong against Grimsby and preview the Barrow game with the help of the Give Em Beans podcast.Subscribe to the Coconut Tier to get:📚At least one feature article every week🎧Bonus podcast content every month👕First dibs on upcoming merch dropsAnd you can show off to your mates that you support UTAS and you’re not a round dodger: https://www.undertheabbeystand.com/subscribeWe’re delighted to be sponsored by The Old Spring this year, and they’re offering some amazing deals for United fans:* Matchday Meal Deal: Before every CUFC home or away game, it’s just £15 for a burger (chicken, beef, or veggie), fish & chips, or skepasti (chicken or halloumi) + any beer.* Saturday Happy Hour: Every Saturday, 18:00–19:00pm, half-price beers.* Ticket Holder Discount: 10% off your food and drink anytime, any day of the week, with a CUFC season ticket or a match ticket for an upcoming game (cannot be used alongside Matchday Meal Deal or Saturday Happy Hour). You can find it at The Old Spring, 1 Ferry Path, Cambridge CB4 1HB, theoldspring.co.uk.Get in touch with the pod here:Socials: @AbbeyStandPod and Under The Abbey StandThis Substack is reader-supported. The One With The Game In Hand

It feels like an age since the U’s drew 0-0 at Bromley. Since Thursday’s game live on Sky, our opponents from that night have been promoted, and the run-in picture has flipped on its head with a new leader in the chasing pack. Tom and Jules step in to react to the latest in the promotion hunt, look back at Thursday night, and preview the much-anticipated game in hand against Grimsby on Tuesday, with help from the View From The Findus podcast.Subscribe to the Coconut Tier to get:📚At least one feature article every week🎧Bonus podcast content every month👕First dibs on upcoming merch dropsAnd you can show off to your mates that you support UTAS and you’re not a round dodger: https://www.undertheabbeystand.com/subscribeWe’re delighted to be sponsored by The Old Spring this year, and they’re offering some amazing deals for United fans:* Matchday Meal Deal: Before every CUFC home or away game, it’s just £15 for a burger (chicken, beef, or veggie), fish & chips, or skepasti (chicken or halloumi) + any beer.* Saturday Happy Hour: Every Saturday, 18:00–19:00pm, half-price beers.* Ticket Holder Discount: 10% off your food and drink anytime, any day of the week, with a CUFC season ticket or a match ticket for an upcoming game (cannot be used alongside Matchday Meal Deal or Saturday Happy Hour). You can find it at The Old Spring, 1 Ferry Path, Cambridge CB4 1HB, theoldspring.co.uk.Get in touch with the pod here:Socials: @AbbeyStandPod and Under The Abbey StandThis Substack is reader-supported. The Preview Show: Bromley (A)

A Thursday night that could end up being season defining? It’s a trip down to deepest South London in front of the Sky cameras for a chance to back up a huge win on Saturday, and a slim chance to get involved in a very late and unlikely title chase. It’s a big preview show with Matt and Jules, joined by From Bromley With Love to look ahead to the run in’s latest big game.Subscribe to the Coconut Tier to get:📚At least one feature article every week🎧Bonus podcast content every month👕First dibs on upcoming merch dropsAnd you can show off to your mates that you support UTAS and you’re not a round dodger: https://www.undertheabbeystand.com/subscribeWe’re delighted to be sponsored by The Old Spring this year, and they’re offering some amazing deals for United fans:* Matchday Meal Deal: Before every CUFC home or away game, it’s just £15 for a burger (chicken, beef, or veggie), fish & chips, or skepasti (chicken or halloumi) + any beer.* Saturday Happy Hour: Every Saturday, 18:00–19:00pm, half-price beers.* Ticket Holder Discount: 10% off your food and drink anytime, any day of the week, with a CUFC season ticket or a match ticket for an upcoming game (cannot be used alongside Matchday Meal Deal or Saturday Happy Hour). You can find it at The Old Spring, 1 Ferry Path, Cambridge CB4 1HB, theoldspring.co.uk.Get in touch with the pod here:Socials: @AbbeyStandPod and Under The Abbey StandThis Substack is reader-supported. Gibbonanza

Now that’s what you call a statement win. It was billed as the biggest game of the season to date, and the U’s came out of it emphatic winners, putting four goals past Notts County and leapfrogging them back into the automatics. As a result it’s a jubilant review pod and Jordan, Matt and Tom have plenty of positives to dissect and discuss. The Preview Show: Notts County (H)

Preview shows don’t get much bigger than this. The Magpies come to town in a gigantic 3rd vs 4th match-up at the top end of League 2, in a game that will have huge ramifications for who ends up being promoted automatically. Jordan and Jack are battling their nerves to preview the game, and they’re joined by Josh Parker from Romsey Mill for the start of the show.Subscribe to the Coconut Tier to get:📚At least one feature article every week🎧Bonus podcast content every month👕First dibs on upcoming merch dropsAnd you can show off to your mates that you support UTAS and you’re not a round dodger: https://www.undertheabbeystand.com/subscribeWe’re delighted to be sponsored by The Old Spring this year, and they’re offering some amazing deals for United fans:* Matchday Meal Deal: Before every CUFC home or away game, it’s just £15 for a burger (chicken, beef, or veggie), fish & chips, or skepasti (chicken or halloumi) + any beer.* Saturday Happy Hour: Every Saturday, 18:00–19:00pm, half-price beers.* Ticket Holder Discount: 10% off your food and drink anytime, any day of the week, with a CUFC season ticket or a match ticket for an upcoming game (cannot be used alongside Matchday Meal Deal or Saturday Happy Hour). You can find it at The Old Spring, 1 Ferry Path, Cambridge CB4 1HB, theoldspring.co.uk.Get in touch with the pod here:Socials: @AbbeyStandPod and Under The Abbey StandThis Substack is reader-supported. Nailed By The Cross

They’ve done it again. Twice over the Easter weekend United let a 1-0 lead slip out of their grasp in stoppage time. Thursday’s performance against Swindon gave us a few positives to cling onto, Monday’s showing and the result that comes with it give very, very little. On this week’s review show, Tom and Jord are competing for who feels the most frustrated in their summary of the game.Subscribe to the Coconut Tier to get:📚At least one feature article every week🎧Bonus podcast content every month👕First dibs on upcoming merch dropsAnd you can show off to your mates that you support UTAS and you’re not a round dodger: https://www.undertheabbeystand.com/subscribeWe’re delighted to be sponsored by The Old Spring this year, and they’re offering some amazing deals for United fans:* Matchday Meal Deal: Before every CUFC home or away game, it’s just £15 for a burger (chicken, beef, or veggie), fish & chips, or skepasti (chicken or halloumi) + any beer.* Saturday Happy Hour: Every Saturday, 18:00–19:00pm, half-price beers.* Ticket Holder Discount: 10% off your food and drink anytime, any day of the week, with a CUFC season ticket or a match ticket for an upcoming game (cannot be used alongside Matchday Meal Deal or Saturday Happy Hour). You can find it at The Old Spring, 1 Ferry Path, Cambridge CB4 1HB, theoldspring.co.uk.Get in touch with the pod here:Socials: @AbbeyStandPod and Under The Abbey StandThis Substack is reader-supported. April kicks off with a huge game at the Abbey on Thursday night to kick off Easter weekend, as 4th play 5th with Swindon coming to town. The fixtures just get bigger and bigger, so big you’ll need a thesaurus by the time Notts County and Bromley roll around. Next up: Salford City, having lost five on the bounce after a big-spending January, they’re now looking to make it five wins on the spin as they’ve got themselves right back in the automatic promotion hunt. Three Runner Beans

Fresh off their big efforts in the half marathon, there’s nothing Matt and Tom will want to be doing more than discussing a tough afternoon in the North West. Lots of discussion on that bicycle kick, lots on Knight’s night, and loads more bullishness as United go 10 unbeaten in the league, and counting.Subscribe to the Coconut Tier to get:📚At least one feature article every week🎧Bonus podcast content every month👕First dibs on upcoming merch dropsAnd you can show off to your mates that you support UTAS and you’re not a round dodger: https://www.undertheabbeystand.com/subscribeWe’re delighted to be sponsored by The Old Spring this year, and they’re offering some amazing deals for United fans:* Matchday Meal Deal: Before every CUFC home or away game, it’s just £15 for a burger (chicken, beef, or veggie), fish & chips, or skepasti (chicken or halloumi) + any beer.* Saturday Happy Hour: Every Saturday, 18:00–19:00pm, half-price beers.* Ticket Holder Discount: 10% off your food and drink anytime, any day of the week, with a CUFC season ticket or a match ticket for an upcoming game (cannot be used alongside Matchday Meal Deal or Saturday Happy Hour). You can find it at The Old Spring, 1 Ferry Path, Cambridge CB4 1HB, theoldspring.co.uk.Get in touch with the pod here:Socials: @AbbeyStandPod and Under The Abbey StandThis Substack is reader-supported.
