Planning In Sets Of Threes E236

I want to write three high quality items every week. That means carving out three blocks of time and occupying three spaces where I can write those pieces. I'm seated under a large oak tree making these plans. Any thoughts? I'm @topgold on good social networks.

    First Strawberry of 2021 #audiomo E233

I'm watching four different types of birds enjoy the feeders hanging in our back garden as I munch on the first strawberry I've harvested from one of our window boxes. I need to share more about our back garden during another audiomo segment and on https://underway.ie because there are plenty of stories associated to the images of our back yard space that I've shared inside https://bit.ly/flickrashgrove

    Testing HiQ MP3 E227

Unhappy with low gain on a previous recording, I've turned off pre-processing and told my HoQ MP3 Android app to use both mics on my Samsung Note 9 when recording. I wonder if the episode description might push out as part of the syndicated audio served by Anchor. After Xmas Unboxing E226

We had some adventures whe inboxing Christmas gifts. I learned I must do better when logging my Moleskine items. The family learned old tech like Chromecast works well with the new UHD TV. My daughter learned fake nails and greasy hands can hurt an iPhone's screen. And I am very satisfied with our new slow cooker, a too-sharp Wunsthof knife, and some entertaining induction lights. If you want to share your unboxing please hit me up http://twitter.com/topgold or via [email protected] and we can continue the conversation.--- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/topgold/message

    Chistmas Meal and Connections E225

I made Christmas dinner for 10 people and half was uneaten. My Note 9 and Chromecast served more than 100 clips to the in-law's TV. Underway in Ireland News

I work with a lot of creative people on the Clonmel Digital Campus and know they have high autonomy needs. I've also figured out some of their best innovation is a collective result. My students need a little consideration from the Irish government so they might be able to earn more than 4500 euro a year without losing their education grant. Some of my students work behind the bar on weekends. Other students who are based in Dublin are baristas in the coffee culture of Ireland. Some analysts believe Irish coffee shops have reached a saturation point. Nearly all of the Sunday papers in Ireland covered the law suit Brenda Romera has launched against the University of Limerick, alleging UL damaged her reputation concerning her running (or not running) UL's Masters programme in game design. Another creative woman, Sinead Gleeson, has released a collection of essays called Constellations: Reflections from Life. I'm reading it at the moment and highly recommend it. You can see more about these topics by subscribing to Underway in Ireland or by reading my Underway.ie blog.

    Eating Less Meat #Newsround

I'm starting to eat less red meat, even though I feel less patriotic making that change in my diet. The kids really enjoy fine cuts from our local butcher but they also hear the United Nations saying the single biggest thing people can do to limit harm to the environment.

    Friday Mixtape h/t @GeorgieDee

Thinking about many of my favourite walks in Ireland. Up Croagh Patrick in the fog. Along the eroded cliffs from Greystones to Bray. Shuffling miles after work from the DART. Getting my first hiking boots for treks up the Sugarloaf Mountains. Enjoying the colour purple in the Knockmealdown Mountains. Seeing topless Germans on Achill Island. Smelling lovely aromas at night in centre city Dublin. Lifted by the smell of hops in Kilkenny's laneways. Sucking on raspberries along the boreens of County Tipperary. Walking through Burgagery Lands in Clonmel on the way to work. And marveling at long boats in the River Suir while walking the Blueway.

    Leaving Anchor V2

After a week at the top of the charts on Anchor v2, I decided to move across to version three. And Eli Garf is coming with me! I heard from Maria Humphreys and Paul O'Mahony so I put them into this episode as well. A lot of people are talking about where podcasting is headed, so I recapped Tom Webster's Medium article that answers that question. And I've included Auf dem Wasser zu Singer by Franz Liszt as well as Zoe Keating's "We Insist" from her excellent "One Cello x 16" collection. You should buy both of them too. If you want more than me babbling, you should head over to http://insideview.ie where this episode features in a blog post.

    Importing audio snippets to Anchor

Bernie experiments at @omaniblog's request by using iOS11 to hear both audio and video content before repurposing that content as MP3 uploads to Anchor. No Waves were harmed during this experimentation with Limor, Anchor, Converter+ and Voice Record Pro (in cover art).

    Tuning into Conversations

I've been listening on Anchor since its first release on iOS and I miss the social audio dimension that attracted me to the Anchor platform. So nowadays, I'm spending most of my time on Spreaker (where I'm topgoldie) and on http://limor.ie (where I'm http://twitter.com/topgold). I remember Anchor's heyday, with daily content from @askavie and @ileane and although their voices can still be found online, they come to my ears via my podcatchers. I don't want to ignore people who call in, so I've cobbled together several recent calls from http://soundcloud.com/techauthoritypodcast and http://anchor.fm/fryedoreo and http://anchor.fm/firemanrich, and http://anchor.fm/maria-humphreys because they're worth sharing from my earbuds to yours. If you get all the way to the end of this clip, you'll hear @freakyfwoof in the background. If you want to catch up with me, look for @topgold on all good social networks.

    Sharing an Irish Staycation

We shared several country homes with our four American cousins. The four kids insisted upon having swimming pools so http://maryborough.com obliged right away. Brilliant sunshine greeted us during our four hours among the wildlife at http://fota.ie but a high point of the trip for the kids had to be meeting their cousins, seeing our two rehomed cats, and hanging out in our attic. The kids enjoyed crawling around historic places like Cahir Castle in the cover art. A significant part of our good times happened because of homes we found on http://airbnb.ie and self-catering easily cut seven hundred euro off the cost of this week-long Irish holiday. But no matter what, if we're hosting friends in Ireland, we're recommending the Cork International Hotel as their point of departure. We've always had a top class experience with the staff and the child-friendly facilities there.

    Avoiding Meat and Dairy

Avoiding meat and dairy is the single biggest way to reduce my impact on Earth. Research published in the journal Science shows even the very lowest impact meat and dairy products still cause much more environmental harm than the least sustainable vegetable and cereal growing. "A vegan diet is probably the single biggest way to reduce your impact on planet Earth, not just greenhouse gases, but global acidification, eutrophication, land use, and water use", says Joseph Poore, at the University of Oxford, UK.

Why I Went http://underway.ie with Drupal

I HAVE SPENT three years listening in the wings as some of my lifelong friends politely talked about how they were making, creating, and sharing open source Drupal services. On the 23rd of July 2018, I jumped into the deep end and created http://www.underway.ie powered by Drupal 7. I'm deeply appreciative of Ruth Maher, Tim Kirby, and Jochen Lillich for offering a well-lighted pathway during my journey back into MySQL, PHP, Javascript, and content development.
