A new collaboration has hit the streets as part of Adidas’ merch drop ahead of the 2026 World Cup. On Episode 177, American Outlaws co-founder Justin Brunken stops by to chat about a cool shoe they have released for members and fans alike. The 2026 World Cup is just a few months away, and everyone in the United States Men’s National Team player pool is trying to state their final cases to make the roster that will represent this summer. On Episode 174, we speak with defender Max Arfsten, whose arrival on the international scene a year ago has seen him vault into serious contention to be one of the 26 players picked by head coach Mauricio Pochettino. #173 - Pochettino: "Not Up To Us" To Talk About Ticket Prices

The 2026 World Cup is a few months away, and Mauricio Pochettino spoke some piercing words about the “duty” of players and coaches to comment on World Cup ticket prices. We discuss his comments on Episode 173. In a virtual press conference yesterday, Pochettino was asked whether FIFA was doing all it could to make the World Cup affordable for supporters after Tim Weah commented last week that World Cup tickets were too expensive and pricing out fans. Pochettino’s response? Weah and the rest of the players should focus on the field, not the other stuff. We take Pochettino’s comments to task on this episode, emphasizing the platform that players and coaches have and the true duty to use that platform to help bring the changes that will help make not just the World Cup successful but make the game grow and improve. Pochettino’s comments were disappointing, to say the least. We spend some time on why they were disappointing. After the break, we get into some of the USMNT transfers that have happened and others that are rumored. Are these guys taking some risks in making a move right now? Risks are there. But we comment on why some of these moves could be good for certain players and why others may want to stay put to better their chances of making the World Cup roster. #170 - World Cup Ticket Window Closes...What's Next?

The latest application window for 2026 World Cup tickets has closed…so what’s next? We discuss what the process looks like from here on Episode 170. The numbers are in from FIFA, and it’s a big one: they report that over 500 million ticket requests were made during the latest application window. That makes the odds super slim that fans will get all the tickets that they want for the World Cup. So, for those supporters who entered through the Supporter Draw or for fans who applied through FIFA, we discuss what the next steps will be in finding out whether you’re one of the lucky ones who will grab the $60 tickets or the ones that will have a much lighter wallet with the full price tickets. After the break, we discuss the reported 2026 away jersey that was leaked last week by FootyHeadlines. We discuss what it looks like and what it’s trying to accomplish as we dive fully into this pivotal year of soccer. Don’t forget to follow us on Bluesky, Twitter, and YouTube! #169 - Ticket lotteries and Waldo jerseys

We’re back with Episode 169 as we go through the details of US Soccer’s ticket lotteries for the 2026 World Cup and we discuss the rumored 2026 World Cup jerseys. First, US Soccer has emailed Insiders members along with members of the three main supporters groups - American Outlaws, Barra 76, and Sammers SC - with details on how to apply for tickets in US Soccer’s allocation for the 2026 World Cup. It’s a lot of information and there have been several questions about how it will work. We do our best to clarify what the process will be, how you can apply for tickets, and whether you should apply through US Soccer or FIFA (or both!) to try and claim USMNT tickets. After the break, we get into the talk around the rumored 2026 home jerseys for the USMNT and USWNT. They’re the closest US Soccer has come to recreating the Waldos from 2012, and this guy loves them. We have a couple more details on the jersey and we have some fun as we like to hope these jerseys come to life on the field this year. Don’t forget to follow us on Bluesky, Twitter, and YouTube! Happy New Year! We’re in 2026, and it’s an important year for soccer in the United States. We dive a bit further into some of the predictions we have for our USMNT and USWNT for the year, splitting the episode among the two teams. First, it’s the USMNT, and with the World Cup taking center stage this summer, the bulk of the predictions are centered around that tournament. From a Golden Boot winner to predicting how far the team will go, we break down the predictions quickly for the team. We also discuss the USWNT, who have World Cup qualifying coming this fall when they play in the Concacaf W Championship. Their year builds up to that tournament, and they hope to have a year full of quality moments, player development, and some big results on the field. Finally, the show hopes to build to new heights in 2026, and it will be a busy year! If you have topic suggestions or you have questions for the pod, hit up the social media feeds to let us know! #167 - US Soccer World Cup Ticket Draw Info, USA Soccercast Merch!

The most coveted ticket lottery will take place next month: the US Soccer ticket draw for World Cup tickets. We learn about how the process will go on Episode 167. The US Soccer Insiders Ticket Draw will commence in January, and we have the information on how it will work. We go through how the lottery application will go and some frequently asked questions, some of which may not have clear answers. We also go through the difference between the US Soccer draw and the FIFA lottery which is currently in an application window. There will be two separate draws: the Standard Insider draw for free Insiders members. 10% of the US Soccer allocation will be earmarked for that draw. The Premium-Keeper Insider Draw will see 90% of tickets earmarked for paid members, outside of Coaches Circle members who are guaranteed World Cup ticket access. Members can also get additional lottery entries based on longevity of membership. We detail all the process and discuss the questions in a way that hopefully provides some clarity. After the break, we have been working on new merch and finally we have it! We recently announced the 2026 USA Soccercast line of jerseys, lightweight hoodies, and other team gear through our friends at Stimulus Athletic! #166 - Reacting to the World Cup Draw!

The 2026 World Cup Draw took place last Friday, and the United States Men’s National Team finally learned who they would face in the group stage next summer. We discuss it on Episode 166. Paraguay, Australia, and the winner of UEFA Playoff C (Türkiye, Slovakia, Romania, or Kosovo) will be the USMNT’s opponents in Group D next summer. We take a look at the rest of the groups and how they were drawn out, and we of course touch a little bit on the circus that was the World Cup Draw. It took 85 minutes for the world to see the first non-host team drawn, but on this episode we reveal the groups much quicker than that! After the break, we touch on some comments from Tyler Adams, Chris Richards, Tim Ream, and head coach Mauricio Pochettino about the USMNT’s draw, how drawing teams they’ve seen recently in Paraguay and Australia affects preparation, and if they are focused solely on the group stage or allowed themselves to think beyond that on potential pathways. It’s great to get their take on the draw and the work they have to make the roster when it’s announced in May. Don’t forget to follow us on Bluesky, Twitter, and YouTube! #165 - Looking back at the USWNT’s successful window

The United States Women’s National Team has completed their 2025 after finishing their final window with two shutout wins over Italy. We recap the window and the year for the USWNT on Episode 165. We first go through the most recent window and some of the best performances. Catarina Macario, Olivia Moultrie, Claire Hutton, Sam Coffey, Rose Lavelle, and Lily Yohannes all get kudos for their play. Italy was a strong team, but the USWNT were in control from Moultrie’s goal 75 seconds into the first match all the way till the very end of the second match. We also look back at 2025 for the USWNT. They were 12W-3L-0D on the year, but the biggest victory they had was the elevation of the depth of the player pool. We’ll discuss how Emma Hayes created that depth by not just bringing along new players, but giving them more opportunities to play at all levels of the national team system to get them comfortable with the system. The result is a large player pool of talent that is ready to step in when their name is called to play at a high level. Don’t forget to follow us on Bluesky, Twitter, and YouTube! #164 - The World Cup Draw: How will it work and what is ideal for the USMNT?

The World Cup Draw is a few days away, and we react to the pots and procedures on Episode 164! #163 - What a fun USMNT window that was!

We recap a fun November international window for the United States Men’s National Team live from Tampa on Episode 163! It’s a morning after the match edition of the podcast, where we recap what was a very successful window for the USMNT: a 2-1 victory over Paraguay and a 5-1 thrashing of Uruguay. We go through what some of the successes were, notably the players that excelled, and discuss how the intensity has increased and the fight has elevated for this team and maybe that’s why they’re doing so well. We go through the goal scorers and briefly rate the performances of players by positions. As we move closer to the 2026 World Cup, we’ve learned a lot about these players and we discuss some of that briefly. We also discuss the news that Major League Soccer is moving to a fall-spring schedule, and some of the positives and negative that will come with the change. There’s also a format shift in how the table will work as well as who teams will play during each season - a single table with divisions. We touch on that as we fly high with happiness from the international window. Don’t forget to follow us on Bluesky, Twitter, and YouTube! #162 - What are the USMNT priorities for November?

We are back with Episode 162 to take you into the Halloween weekend! The USMNT are back in action in a couple of weeks, and the competition is starting to pick up. We discuss some of the priorities for the national team as they get ready for matches against Paraguay and Uruguay. From improvements to the midfield play to leveling up against tougher competition, the USMNT still has their work cut out for them in November. We also dive into the news that January Camp will be replaced starting in December 2026 with December Camp. The move could help MLS players get those opportunities at times where they are more in peak fitness and outside of preseason windows where their clubs could balk at their absence. However, it would put a strain on fans who enjoy traveling to the annual camp to watch guys fight to become the next line of players who work their way into the mix with the USMNT. #158 - Answering World Cup ticket questions

The 2026 World Cup ticketing sales are set to begin next month, and it’s about time to start addressing some frequently asked questions. On Episode 158, we do just that. First, we discuss the World Cup Draw which is reportedly set to take place on December 5th in Las Vegas. The draw always is a night for glitz and glamor, and Vegas could be the best backdrop for that particular night. After quickly discussing the draw, we get into the first ticket phase for the 2026 World Cup, and it’s one for all Visa cardholders. The application window runs September 10-19 and will provide the first major lottery for fans around the world to get tickets to the biggest sporting event on the planet. After the break, we get to the questions. There have been several general questions about how the process will go for fans to get tickets to World Cup matches, whether they are for the USMNT or matches involving other teams. How much will tickets likely cost? Can I just find tickets on StubHub or another third party reseller? What will it be like to travel between the United States, Mexico, and Canada for matches? We don’t have all the answers, but we get into a lot of information that we do know on this episode. Don’t forget to follow us on Bluesky and YouTube! The 2026 FIFA World Cup is less than 11 months away, and the United States Men’s National Team is in the final phase of preparations to co-host the world. In the aftermath of finishing runner-up to Mexico at the Gold Cup, there have been a lot of debates about what the team - from the players to head coach Mauricio Pochettino - needs to do in order to be operating at max capacity when they open the World Cup next June in LA. Enter Landon Donovan. He’s been outspoken in both his criticism of the USMNT and what it needs to do to improve as well as supportive of some of the strides the team took during the Gold Cup. #156 - WNT look dominant, MNT Gold Cup roster released

The United States Women’s National Team had a great international window, and the USMNT Gold Cup roster is out. We take some time to discuss it on Episode 156. The USWNT defeated China 3-0 and Jamaica 4-0 during their most recent window, and it feels like Emma Hayes is closer to identifying the players who could form the core of her plans as we progress through this Women’s World Cup cycle. We discuss some of the players who performed very well during the camp, including Phallon Tullis-Joyce’s case to be the #1 goalkeeper. We also get into some of the players that maybe had a camp to forget as well as what the team needs to lean on as they move forward: a fast, creative midfield. After the break, we discuss the USMNT Gold Cup roster that was announced on Thursday. We take a look at who made the roster as well as the main notable omission of Sergiño Dest, who was deemed not quite 100% to play in the tournament by the USMNT coaching staff. We discuss what that means for a team that will enter the tournament with just a few guys with Gold Cup experience. Don’t forget to follow us on Bluesky and YouTube! The United States Men’s National Team is headed to camp next week and among the newcomers is 1.FC Köln striker Damion Downs. We’re joined by Jake Payne of 50 Plus Döner as we do a deep dive on the young German-American and what he brings to the table. Jake does content that focuses on Köln and German soccer as a whole, and he gives us some incredible insight on Downs and what he’s done well at the club level. He also discusses what Downs will have to improve as he prepares for his time with the USMNT and helping Köln as they return to the Bundesliga next season. It’s a great interview that also expands to why German soccer is normally so beneficial for American players to develop and how the wave can shift back to players thriving in the Bundesliga. After the break, the USWNT take the field this weekend in two friendlies where we will see the team continue to develop some of the young talent. We look at the roster and some notes about who we are excited about seeing against China and Jamaica. #154 - Christian Pulisic opts out of USMNT camp, Gold Cup

The United States Men’s National Team prepares to play in the Concacaf Gold Cup, but Christian Pulisic’s absence has everyone talking. We discuss his decision to opt out of this summer’s matches on Episode 154. Christian Pulisic has decided that after a long season for AC Milan, he wants to sit the summer out. That decision has taken American soccer by storm and it has prompted a lot of critical feedback. We offer our own thoughts on his decision and what it means for him and the USMNT. With other absences, this means the A roster that fans were promised for the Gold Cup is left with some newcomers who have a huge opportunity ahead of them. We also get into the new 2025 US Soccer jerseys that were released a couple of weeks ago. While we’re still Team Waldos as the permanent home identity, we’re excited about these really cool looking jerseys for this summer. Don’t forget to follow us on Bluesky and YouTube! #153 - The evolving women’s soccer pyramid

The women’s soccer pyramid could be expanding in 2026, and we discuss it on Episode 153! The NWSL has submitted a bid to create a second division league called NWSL Division 2 that would serve as a reserve league beginning in 2026. It would begin with 8 teams, with every NWSL team eventually having a reserve team in the league. There is also WPSL Pro, who also announced their intention to launch in 2026 with 15 teams. We quickly go through the new proposed leagues. We then get into the evolving women’s soccer pyramid in the United States and some of the things that these leagues will need to overcome. We also discuss soccer markets that are increasingly crowded as leagues rush to ride the coat tails of the 2026 World Cup. The eye should be on sustainability, and the legacy of 2026 doesn’t have to mean that a league rushes to launch in 2026. As more information comes out about these leagues, we can continue to debate the pros and cons, but it’s a discussion worth having to make sure that women’s soccer remains successful and is not set up in a hurried manner that increases the potential for failure. #152 - USL bets on promotion/relegation (ft Eboni Christmas of Walkin 90)

The USL is finally going to institute promotion-relegation. Eboni Christmas of Walkin 90 joins us to discuss the good and the bad on Episode 152. USL Division One is a new league that will debut in 2027-2028, but the United Soccer Leagues are going even further to try and create more interest in the league. Starting in 2028, they will implement promotion-relegation among their 3 professional divisions. We first discuss the new D1 league that USL is starting and what will be required of them. We then chat with Eboni Christmas of the Walkin 90 Podcast and Shea Butter FC about how she thinks promotion-relegation will work and how her team - North Carolina FC - will prepare themselves for it. After the break, we further analyze what USL needs to do to really be ready to help this system succeed in the United States. It’s a bold move, but it’s not without its questions and concerns. There’s a lot that has to be done for this to work well and to really bring what everyone who favors promotion-relegation says it will. It’s a huge gamble for the league. And, the clock is now ticking to satisfy all the requirements. You won’t want to miss this episode! Don’t forget to follow us on Bluesky and YouTube! #149 - Analyzing MLS participation in cup competitions

We’re back with Episode 149, where we break down Major League Soccer’s participation in the various club competitions this season. MLS will send teams to the Concacaf Champions Cup, the U.S. Open Cup, Leagues Cup, the Canadian Championship, and the FIFA Club World Cup this season. But, in a new set of qualification criteria, teams (with the exception of the Seattle Sounders and Inter Miami, due to their participation in the Club World Cup) will take part in at least one, but not more than two, cup competitions in 2025 and 2026. We first start by examining that criteria as well as detailing which teams will play in each of those competitions. After the break, we continue our discussion by analyzing how MLS is going about its participation in the various cup competitions. The increased focus on Leagues Cup - despite teams balking at its format and how it disrupts the season - continues to be something that is rightfully scrutinized, and this episode is no exception. But, we don’t just come to the table with the negatives. There’s a format that would reduce the importance of the Leagues Cup but also improve schedule congestion and perhaps fan excitement in the competition...and we look to college basketball for that idea. The United States Men’s National Team had a fun January Camp, and we recap it on Episode 148! The USMNT had two wins last week over Venezuela and Costa Rica to give this January Camp fun vibes. We saw some players take advantage of their opportunity and we saw some good play as the team got the first two wins of 2025 under their belt. We recap what we saw from that camp and how it could affect some of the players moving forward as we dive into the year. After the break, Naomi Girma is officially on the move to Chelsea in a world record transfer. But what does it mean for the NWSL that she leaves behind? We discuss how it’s important for Girma, important for Chelsea, and important for the NWSL, but that it shouldn’t signify a mass exodus of players to teams across the pond. #147 - Emma Hayes is changing the USWNT's approach to January Camp

The United States Women’s National Team are having a combined training camp to start the year, but on Episode 147, we discuss how head coach Emma Hayes is changing the approach. January Camp is normally a camp where the USWNT comes together for the first time in the new year to play a couple of friendlies and begin their preparations for a loaded schedule. However, Emma Hayes has softened the approach to January Camp, bringing in 49 players across two rosters: the USWNT training roster and a Futures Camp of U-23s designed to give them a chance to get involved and make an impression. There are no matches this time, and as we discuss, Hayes has decided that January Camps will remain an opportunity to develop talent and organize the overall strategy for the year. We get into the WNT roster as well as the Futures roster and how it’s a big year for some positions as some veterans are not present for various reasons. Overall, Emma Hayes wants to create more opportunities for the younger players, but first she wants to get them into this camp to get to know them and begin to implement her methodology that sets the program up for future success. #146 - USMNT kick starts 2025 with January Camp

We get our first look at the United States Men’s National Team in 2025 as they get set to take the field for two friendlies over the next few days. We preview their matches against Venezuela and Costa Rica on Episode 146. The USMNT enter 2025 needing to start figuring out what their depth will look like as they get ready for Concacaf Nations League and the Gold Cup. They of course continue to have their eyes on the 2026 World Cup, and the January Camp friendlies are a chance for MLS-based players to make an impression. We take you through the roster of players and note how one of them has a wild path to the national team. There are some players who have a great opportunity to show they can be counted on as depth pieces as the race to 2026 hits full stride. After the break, we get into a little bit of the calendar for the USMNT and what awaits them in 2025. There are some potentials for big time friendlies, but Concacaf competitions will dominate the first half of the year as the USMNT seek to hold onto the Concacaf Nations League trophy and reclaim the Gold Cup. #145 - Ryan Rosenblatt discusses Netflix and Women's World Cup broadcast rights!

We are back in time for the holidays with Episode 145 as Ryan Rosenblatt joins us to break down Netflix’s acquisition of the U.S. broadcast rights for the 2027 and 2031 Women’s World Cups! The streaming service has tens of millions of subscribers, and they will now be the sole broadcast provider for the next two Women’s World Cup tournaments. Ryan Rosenblatt, who has amazing insight on the intricacies behind these sorts of deals, comes on the show to discuss those details. From the ramp up in production to the addressing of their recent failures with one-off sporting events to how accessible they would need to make each match, it’s a great conversation that has some thoughtful approaches to what Netflix could and should do as well as the sharing of the real concerns facing the streaming service as it prepares to bring the tournament to a national audience. They have 2.5 years to make things happen, which is still a good bit of time. But, it’s short enough that the urgency needs to be there for Netflix to put together the production that they want and make it accessible to American sports fans, particularly those who wish to watch the USWNT. The United States Men’s National Team had a difficult October window, and we recap it on Episode 143. We review the 2-0 win against Panama and then spend some time discussing what happened in the 2-0 loss to Mexico. There’s a lot of things that the USMNT must face if they wish to improve, so we answer some questions and lay some truths on the table. After the break, we discuss the U.S. drawing Jamaica for the Concacaf Nations League quarterfinals. Jamaica won their group in the League A group stage, so they’re ready to take the next step and take out another seeded team like they did with Canada last year. The USMNT need to take Jamaica seriously and approach this match with the same intensity that the Reggae Boyz will if they want to defend their title once again. #142 - Preparing for Poch's first international window

The United States Men’s National Team are back and set to begin the Mauricio Pochettino era! We preview the upcoming matches against Panama and Mexico on Episode 142. The USMNT have a new coach, and while his first roster may have already undergone some changes due to various injuries, everyone has a fresh approach to this training camp. We go through the roster and note who’s absent as well as who is getting a fresh start (and a new shot) to show that they can be a productive part of this player pool. Competition is the theme of this camp, and every position feels like it’s up for grabs. After the break, we discuss the two opponents for the USMNT, as they take on Panama in Austin and then head to Guadalajara for a rare road friendly against Mexico. There’s one thing that we should be looking for in this camp above all else: competitive fire and a sense of urgency to improve and get better. The team has dropped off in several ways over the past few months, but with a new coach in charge, it means a fresh start and a chance to get back on track. #141 - Mauricio Pochettino signs on as USMNT head coach

The United States Men’s National Team have a new head coach! We discuss Mauricio Pochettino’s hire on Episode 141 of the USA Soccercast. The USMNT are coming off a September window that was not great, but the biggest story occurred just before the match against New Zealand on Tuesday night, when U.S. Soccer confirmed the hire of Mauricio Pochettino. Pochettino is tasked with building the program back up towards the 2026 World Cup and preparing the team to host the world and try to go deep in the tournament. It’s a shortened timetable for him with less than two years to go, but we break down what the Argentine coach brings to the table as he takes on the new project. We also answer some listener questions about Pochettino’s hire, from how we could play to what kind of formation he could employ to who we could possibly play between now and June 2026. There are a lot of factors that affect the program’s trajectory and he will be responsible for addressing them all. With his first press conference coming tomorrow morning, it will be fans’ initial chance to hear from the man himself on how he plans to get this team back on track. #140 - Breaking down the USMNT roster

The United States Men’s National Team is back with a new roster and a new interim coach, and we examine the team on Episode 140 of the USA Soccercast. The USMNT are gathering for matches over the next week against Canada and New Zealand and they’re doing so with an interim coach: Mikey Varas. There’s also a new roster with some players who have been called in to compete for some depth spots. Also, with some players out due to injury or rest, there’s an opportunity for guys to show they should be a part of the main core of the player pool. We also discuss what the team should be looking to accomplish in this window despite the fact no permanent coach is in place. Competition is one thing, but it’s a chance to reset and really begin to play with the sense of urgency that’s required in every match. The team may have friendlies the next couple of months, but they can still approach those matches like they are World Cup matches. Don’t forget to follow us on Twitter and YouTube! #139 - Gregg Berhalter fired as USMNT head coach...who's next?

The time has come. Gregg Berhalter has been fired as the United States Men’s National Team head coach, and we discuss the fallout on Episode 139 of the USA Soccercast. Gregg Berhalter’s tenure is done, which has given a large portion of the fanbase some happiness this morning. We break down what happened and offer a post mortem on Gregg Berhalter’s time as USMNT head coach. Make no mistake, despite some of the shortcomings that were held against him, he brought this program back from its lowest point and achieved quite a few goals during his time in charge. He also leaves as one of the winningest coaches in USMNT history. So, we take the time to go through some of his accomplishments as well as some of those shortcomings, including crashing out in the group stage of Copa America. In the end, we wish him well as he departs the team. Now that Berhalter is out, the work begins to find a replacement. Of course, some big names are coveted by the fanbase, but are some of those names realistic? Probably not, but to get to some of the coaches who are, we lay out some criteria that we wish to see in the next coach. The main one: we need a coach who’s available who can come in now and get straight to work by the September international window. Then, we offer some possible candidates. In the end, we all have a lot of work to do before the 2026 World Cup arrives, and once the new coach arrives, it’s time to get going. Don’t forget to follow us on Twitter and YouTube!
