Of the hundreds made so far, there must be a few good ones, right? Join hosts Jamie and Rory as they suffer through the seemingly endless sea of bad videogame movies in search of the few diamonds in the rough. There will be laughs, tears (mostly from Jamie) and nerdy details nobody could possibly care about!Let us suffer through these terrible movies, so you don't have to!

    SuperBoll Sunday

It's time for SuperBoll Sunday! We've gone through the first round and thinned the herd. Listen for the final time as Jamie and Rory argue to decide the best (?) Uwe Boll videogame movie. As a bonus they also discuss two documentaries made about the man himself that shed some light on what it's like to work on a Boll set.Titles covered: In the Name of the King 2, In the Name of the King 3, Raging Boll and F**k You All: The Uwe Boll Story.A winner must be crowned in this, the final episode of VGMP!Thank you to everyone who has stuck with our little show for all of these years. There's been laughs, there's been fights and at least three occasions where Jamie has almost walked away from the show, but it has been a genuine pleasure to bring this show to you each week. Thank you so much!Visit our website at www.vgmovie.co.ukVisit our Wiki of Videogame Adaptations at www.vgmp.fandom.com

    SuperBoll Saturday

Six seasons and four years. VGMP must decide how we should go out, and there is only one real option. Uwe Boll is the name most associated with videogame movies, having garnered a reputation for putting out truly terrible titles during the 2000s and early 2010s. To close out the show we did a two part tournament to decide which is the best of this bad bunch! We cover House of the Dead: Funny Version, Alone in the Dark, Bloodrayne 2, Bloodrayne 3 and Far Cry.Visit our website at www.vgmovie.co.ukVisit our Wiki of Videogame Adaptations at www.vgmp.fandom.com

    Mortal Kombat X: Generations (2015)

Leaked footage from the unreleased project "Mortal Kombat X: Generations" this project was set to star Casper Van Dien as Johnny Cage and also features an appearance from Eric Roberts (that guy is in everything!) More of a curiosity than anything else, the boys take a look at the footage and speculate on what the project could have been.Visit our website at www.vgmovie.co.ukVisit our Wiki of Videogame Adaptations at www.vgmp.fandom.com

    Press Start: Bio Haphazard (2010)

    Return to Silent Hill (2026)

A film Jamie has been anticipating ever since it was announced a few years ago; original director Christoph Gans returns to Silent Hill to adapt the very much loved second game in the franchise. The film missed it's original release date following a poorly received trailer online and went silent for a while (ha ha) before quietly being released January 2026. Uh oh. Sounds like a bad sign right? Well if that wasn't enough, the movie opened to a whopping 7% on Rotten Tomatoes and an almost instant deluge of hate online. Yet, the boys decided to go for it anyway and see if Return To Silent Hill really was as bad as people say. So, turn up the volume and join us as we venture once more into that foggy hellmouth; Silent Hill.Visit our website at www.vgmovie.co.ukVisit our Wiki of Videogame Adaptations at www.vgmp.fandom.com

    Tomb Raider (2018)

Based on the "survivor trilogy" reboot of the Tomb Raider games, this 2018 movie swaps Angelina Jolie for Alicia Vikander and casts Walton Goggins in the villain role. This adventure sees Lara searching for her missing father who has disappeared on an expedition to uncover the tomb of Himiko, an ancient witch who was rumoured to have power over death itself. Despite a sequel set up the 2018 movie never saw a follow up and has mostly faded from public consciousness. Jamie and Rory invite returning guest Harry McIlroy to join them in trying to work out why that might be.Visit our website at www.vgmovie.co.ukVisit our Wiki of Videogame Adaptations at www.vgmp.fandom.com

  7. 157

    Assassin's Creed (2016)

It's one of the most popular videogame franchises of the last twenty years and it's movie adaptation was heralded as potentially being the first movie to break the videogame movie curse. With heavy hitters like Michael Fassbender, Marion Cottilard and Jeremy Irons onboard it certainly seemed like this might be the case...and yet...Assassin's Creed made zero impact on the pop culture and is almost completely forgotten a decade later. In this week's episode we look back at this 2016 movie to see if it deserved its fate or if it deserved better.Visit our website at www.vgmovie.co.ukVisit our Wiki of Videogame Adaptations at www.vgmp.fandom.com

  8. 156

    Five Nights at Freddy's 2 (2025)

After the first movie was a surprise hit, it's no surprise that Blumhouse greenlit a sequel. Josh Hutcherson and Matthew Lillard both return but this time we add Skeet Ulrich to the cast, marking a long awaited on screen reunion between the two original Scream cast members. Except...well...not quite. This movie is a runaway success just like its predecessor, but what do the VGMP boys think of it?Visit our website at www.vgmovie.co.ukVisit our Wiki of Videogame Adaptations at www.vgmp.fandom.com

  9. 155

    Monster Hunter (2020)

As we rapidly approach the final ever episode of VGMP it wouldn't be right not to have Jamie do battle one more time with his arch-nemesis; Paul W.S. Anderson. After maiming the Resident Evil franchise with six increasingly bad instalments, Anderson turned his attention to another Capcom franchise; Monster Hunter. Once again casting Mila Jovovich, will Anderson have a better take on this source material than he did Resident Evil? (Spoiler Alert: He won't.)Visit our website at www.vgmovie.co.ukVisit our Wiki of Videogame Adaptations at www.vgmp.fandom.com

  10. 154

    Sweet Home (1989)

One that's been on Jamie's radar for a while now this week; Sweet Home is the first ever theatrically released videogame movie and was made in conjunction with its videogame counterpart (similar to previous episode Mirai Ninja). Perhaps more importantly, the film is directed by landmark J-Horror director Kiyoshi Kurosawa (Cure, Pulse) and was one of the chief inspirations behind one of Jamie's all time favourite games; Resident Evil!Visit our website at www.vgmovie.co.ukVisit our Wiki of Videogame Adaptations at www.vgmp.fandom.com

  11. 153

    Kill Bill - Yuki's Revenge (2025)

Now this is a real first, at least as far as we can see, massively popular videogame Fortnite used its engine to render a deleted sequence from Quentin Tarantino's "Kill Bill" and made it viewable in game. It was such an unusual and unexpected thing to happen, we just had to cover it.Visit our website at www.vgmovie.co.ukVisit our Wiki of Videogame Adaptations at www.vgmp.fandom.com

  12. 152

    Mirai Ninja (1988)

Now, you probably thought that Super Mario Bros. (1993) was the first videogame movie, right? That's what mummy and daddy told you when you were a tiny child who hadn't been awoken yet to how bad videogame movies could be? Well, your parents lied kid.The ACTUAL first videogame movie is THIS: Mirai Ninja from the fine folks at Namco Bandai was made in conjunction with the videogame of the same name and was released in 1988 a full five years before Super Mario Bros. however, it was only released in Japan at the time which is why most people don't remember it.This low budget movie is an odd blend of martial arts, sci-fi and Power Rangers. Seriously. It has to be seen to be believed.Visit our website at www.vgmovie.co.ukVisit our Wiki of Videogame Adaptations at www.vgmp.fandom.com

  13. 151

    King Koopa's Kool Kartoons (1989)

It wouldn't be the final days of VGMP without Jamie having one more rage-filled meltdown and Rory certainly saved the best for last! King Koopa's Kool Kartoons is a forgotten (not to mention lost) TV series from 1989, of which only 8 surviving minutes have been found. How bad can 8 minutes be?Well, strap in and pop on your headphones as we discuss the worst eight minutes you have ever heard in your life.Seriously.Visit our website at www.vgmovie.co.ukVisit our Wiki of Videogame Adaptations at www.vgmp.fandom.com

    Saturday Supercade (1983)

It's a bumper episode this week as we cover multiple game adaptations in one! Saturday Supercade was a compilation cartoon series which aired in the USA and included adaptations of games such as Donkey Kong, Q*Bert, Frogger and Space Ace amongst others!Visit our website at www.vgmovie.co.ukVisit our Wiki of Videogame Adaptations at www.vgmp.fandom.com

  15. 149

    Maniac Mansion (1990)

This is one of the oddest things we've ever covered here on VGMP. Purportedly based on a 1980s computer game (though bearing essentially no resemblance to said game), this sitcom includes Eugene Levy (Schitt's Creek, American Pie) amongst its writers and several guest stars including Martin Short and David Cronenberg. The show ran for 3 seasons in the early 90s but is now largely forgotten, so the question is, is there any value to be found in digging this back up?Visit our website at www.vgmovie.co.ukVisit our Wiki of Videogame Adaptations at www.vgmp.fandom.com

  16. 148

    Pac-Man (1982)

Way back in 1982 this cartoon show based on the hit arcade game "Pac-Man" was momentarily the most viewed Saturday morning cartoon on US Television. Featuring both Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man, the show adds a fifth ghost to the games usual cadre of four as well as an evil overlord character named Mezmero. Does a Saturday morning Pac-Man cartoon hold up in 2025? Does it remain as timeless as the classic arcade game or does it feel like a relic lost to time?Visit our website at www.vgmovie.co.ukVisit our Wiki of Videogame Adaptations at www.vgmp.fandom.com

  17. 147

    TV Powww! (1978)

A bonus mini-episode to look at this forgotten oddity from history; the TV Powww was a videogame system sold to local TV stations in the USA in the 1970s that allowed contestants to call up and play an interactive game by shouting the word "pow" into their phone.Visit our website at www.vgmovie.co.ukVisit our Wiki of Videogame Adaptations at www.vgmp.fandom.com

  18. 146

    Max Payne (2008)

Based on Remedy's hit action-noir game from the PS2 era, Max Payne stars Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis along with Beau Bridges and has a fairly poor reputation. Remedy are known for their excellent stories in videogames but how does that translate to the big screen? It's time to strap in and find out as we watch Max Payne.Visit our website at www.vgmovie.co.ukVisit our Wiki of Videogame Adaptations at www.vgmp.fandom.com

  19. 145

    The King of Fighters (2009)

Based on the SNK Fighting Game and featuring Nikita and Darth Maul, helmed by a prolific Hong Kong Director, The King Of Fighters is not a good movie. But it also isn't a boring movie. Combining cheesy one-liners, bright colours, martial arts and the biggest overuse of dutch angles you've ever seen, The King Of Fighters might not be good cinema, but it's certainly an experience.Visit our website at www.vgmovie.co.ukVisit our Wiki of Videogame Adaptations at www.vgmp.fandom.com

  20. 144

    Red Factions: Origins (2011)

An origins film that is neither the origins of its franchise nor a prequel at all. Red Faction: Origins is actually the sequel to Red Faction: Guerilla and follows the son of that game's protagonist. A low budget sci-fi epic made by the SyFy Channel...the odds aren't in this films favour.Visit our website at www.vgmovie.co.ukVisit our Wiki of Videogame Adaptations at www.vgmp.fandom.com

  21. 143

    Warcraft (2016)

Based upon one of the biggest MMORPG's of all time and helmed by a lauded indie darling, Duncan Jones (Moon) attempts to bring World Of Warcraft to the big screen. Jamie and Rory know very little about WoW, will the movie be an accessible starting point or will they be completely lost? There's only one way to find out...Visit our website at www.vgmovie.co.ukVisit our Wiki of Videogame Adaptations at www.vgmp.fandom.com

Resident Evil 6: The Final Chapter (2016)

This is it. The one we've been building to since the very first episode of VGMP (seriously, I'm fairly certain Jamie went on a rant about this movie in that very first episode). The one Jamie has been dreading. The final instalment in Paul W.S. Anderson's Resident Evil series. Jamie considers The Final Chapter to be one of the worst movies he has ever seen, will the passage of time have softened his opinion or will he hate it just as much? And what will Rory make of this franchise ender? Listen to find out!Visit our website at www.vgmovie.co.ukVisit our Wiki of Videogame Adaptations at www.vgmp.fandom.com

  23. 141

    Werewolves Within (2021)

Based on the VR game this horror comedy was a little-seen indie movie that probably deserved more eyes on it. When a new park ranger arrives in a town filled with oddball residents, he enters a tense situation spurred on by a wealthy oil magnate. Things go from bad to worse however when a werewolf arrives on the scene!Visit our website at www.vgmovie.co.ukVisit our Wiki of Videogame Adaptations at www.vgmp.fandom.com

    Dead Rising: Endgame (2016)

A while back, now defunct network Crackle made a Dead Rising movie called "Watchtower." Turns out they also made a sequel and we're watching it today on VGMP! "Dead Rising: Endgame" sees Jesse Metcalfe return along with Dennis Haysbert and a bunch of new characters including an appearance from Billy Zane making another videogame movie appearance! The first movie was a bit disappointing for the guys so how will this second instalment fare?Visit our website at www.vgmovie.co.ukVisit our Wiki of Videogame Adaptations at www.vgmp.fandom.com

    Corpse Party (2013)

Jamie and Rory take a look at this low budget Japanese movie based on cult horror game "Corpse Party." We covered this film once before but due to some illness-induced mishaps we felt we didn't give it a proper chance so we decided to tackle it again this year!Visit our website at www.vgmovie.co.ukVisit our Wiki of Videogame Adaptations at www.vgmp.fandom.com

  26. 138

    Until Dawn (2025)

This interactive slasher game was a big success for Sony at one point and inspired a whole wave of similar games including The Dark Pictures Anthology and The Quarry, but one might wonder if there is any point in turning a game that was essentially a playable movie into a regular old non-playable movie. On this episode of VGMP, Jamie and Rory take a look to see if Until Dawn makes for a good movie.Visit our website at www.vgmovie.co.ukVisit our Wiki of Videogame Adaptations at www.vgmp.fandom.com

  27. 137

    Hitman (2007)

    Company of Heroes (2013)

On this week's episode of VGMP we're looking at a little known videogame movie; Company Of Heroes. Starring Tom Sizemore, Vinnie Jones and regular VGMP actor Neal McDonough. Deep in enemy territory, soldiers from a few allied nations are forced to work together to infiltrate a German prison and rescue a scientist who has been working on a top secret weapon.Visit our website at www.vgmovie.co.ukVisit our Wiki of Videogame Adaptations at www.vgmp.fandom.com

    Resident Evil 5: Retribution (2012)

We are now five movies deep in the "Anderson-verse" of Resident Evil movies and Jamie is almost at breaking point as his favourite franchise continues to be butchered on screen. These movies continue to ignore their own continuity and in this instalment the movie takes on a videogame feel in the worst way, being split across several "levels" in Umbrella's testing facility.Visit our website at www.vgmovie.co.ukVisit our Wiki of Videogame Adaptations at www.vgmp.fandom.com

In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale

Once again Uwe Boll is back in the hot seat as we review another of his video game movie offerings, this time it's "In The Name Of The King: A Dungeon Siege Tale." Starring Jason Statham as a man named Farmer, this is Lord Of The Rings via Wish.com including an appearance from Gimli himself (Jonathan Rhys-Davies), Shaggy (Matthew Lillard) and an evil dark wizard played by...Ray Liotta!? A Minecraft Movie (2025)

Based on the blockbuster game, A Minecraft Movie was surprisingly a blockbuster hit at the cinemas, relying on the current mantra that all videogame movie should cast Jack Black and embracing the popular memes of the game to create a wave of box office success. Neither Jamie or Rory are Minecraft fans going into this viewing, so is the movie welcoming to new viewers or do you have to already be a fan of the game to appreciate its charms?Visit our website at www.vgmovie.co.ukVisit our Wiki of Videogame Adaptations at www.vgmp.fandom.com

    Tokimeki Memorial (1997)

This Japanese movie from 1997 is based on the Konami dating sim franchise of the same name. A rare movie in the VGMP pantheon; our first and only episode based on a dating sim. The movie sees a group of teens taking a job at a seaside café during their last summer before university and bonding over the experience.Visit our website at www.vgmovie.co.ukVisit our Wiki of Videogame Adaptations at www.vgmp.fandom.com

    Double Dragon (1994)

This week Rory and Jamie are reviewing this infamously bad movie from the early 90s based on the classic beat 'em up franchise. Set in a post-apocalyptic Los Angeles, the movie follows two brothers in a race against time to find the two halves of the Double Dragon amulet before an evil businessman beats them to it.Visit our website at www.vgmovie.co.ukVisit our Wiki of Videogame Adaptations at www.vgmp.fandom.com

    Last Bronx: Tokyo Bangaichi (1997)

This week the boys take a look at a little known Japanese movie; Last Bronx: Tokyo Bangaichi, this low budget movie is set in a dystopian future where a fascistic corporation hosts a fighting tournament. Dead Rising: Watchtower (2015)

After previously reviewing the Japanese take on a "Dead Rising" movie, this time the boys take a look at the first American effort. Produced for Crackle and starring Jesse Metcalfe (Desperate Housewives), Rob Riggle (Modern Family, The Office, a gazillion other comedies), Virginia Madsen (Candyman, Sideways) and Dennis Haysbert (24, Brooklyn Nine-Nine), the movie focuses on a young reporter caught in a quarantine zone after a deadly resurgence of the zombie virus. DOOM: Annihilation (2019)

Did you know they made a second DOOM movie? Jamie sure didn't until Rory sprung that one on him! You could be forgiven for not knowing about this ultra low-budget adaptation that seemingly got screwed by the studio. Yet it is also true that sometimes it is those films that face the most adversity come out with that extra special X factor that turns them into very enjoyable movies. Resident Evil 4: Afterlife (2010)

Once again the boys come head to head with Jamie's arch-nemesis Paul W.S. Anderson as he continues to produce movies titled "Resident Evil" that have no connection to the game series at all.
