One of my favourite experimental songs from the 1980s was the Last Train to Town. Yes the song features a friend of mine talking in the background with me and I recorded our experience in audio using my Sony Walkman. I mixed a sample from the walkman recording in the the start of the song and the end. This was the days before Samplers became popular. The song is about me and my friend on our little journey - our adventure. It was a great memory for me. Its the time we were trying to go from Perth to Sydney in my old Kingswood Holden HG 'the Beast' Panel Van car and we stopped near Meckering in the Wheat Belt in Western Australia in the middle of the night and we saw the super long freight train. Don't really know where the freight train was coming from? It could have been Kalgoorlie? Eastern States meaning from Adelaide, Melbourne, Alice Springs? Who knows? This instrumental is about landing on Planet Venus. The tune is called Planet Venus Mission. When I started writing it the idea of entering Planet Venus came in my mind. But as I continued to write the brass part inspired me so I changed direction musically so really the song is about the entry into Plane Venus atmosphere which is mega hot. As you know Planet Venus is very hot and I think the music fits the theme.
