August 10 - Salt, Light (Will Guest Preacher)

Main Idea: Salt was a sign of covenant in the Old Testament and people living and embodying Jesus’ kingdom are supposed to be that too, signs of the new covenant in Christ. Salt also brings out the flavors of wherever it is. How do we bring out God? Similarly, just as Israel was called to be a light to the nations, Jesus’ disciples are supposed to show forth God’s light.Scripture: Matthew 5:13-20

    Ebenezer (Michael Moore Preaching)

Series Summary: An Ebenezer stone was a marker erected by the Israelites to mark God’s faithfulness and how God had brought them thus far. We all have Ebenezer stones in our lives. People, places, experiences that remind us of how God has faithfully brought us to where we are right now. What are your Ebenezer stones? How do you remember and mark God’s faithful love in your life? We get to hear from you!

Village Church RolesvilleSunday Message, July 6, 2025Pastor Tyler Williams1 Corinthians 3:1-9

  44. 299

    Church (At our Best): Family

The Church as God's Family is supposed to be:A community of open and formative belongingBroken but teaching each other how to love betterResemble JesusEphesians 2:19-22Acts 2:42-47

  45. 298

    Church (At our Best): Temple

Main Idea: Throughout the Bible, Temple is associated with God’s place of dwelling and abiding with God’s people on earth. The temple was a place of encounter with God. Everything about the Temple was designed to orient people to and represent the glorious praiseworthiness of God. If the church is God’s Temple, then we are supposed to be a community in which people can encounter and worship and be met by the Living God. We are supposed to point people to God, facilitate an encounter. Can people look at and be in our church and clearly see God represented everywhere? We are priests who help people experiencing God. The temple was also a shelter and sanctuary where people could go and get a respite from the storms of life. What does that mean for us as the church? We need to remember that we are a living temple and not static in one place though! Also, temples were places people went in hopes of healing. Aren’t we supposed to be like a field hospital for the hurting and broken? Temple as distinct from the palace/kings. Place of prophets and priests?“This means the Church is not just a place where Christ is discussed or admired but where he is encountered. To be the Church is to be drawn into Christ’s ongoing movement. It is to be the place where heaven and earth meet, where eternity interrupts time, and where Christ himself is made present through Word and sacrament.”Scriptures: 1 Corinthians 3:10-17; Ephesians 2:19-22

  46. 297

  48. 295

Faith Like a Child: Nosy, Into Everything God

Main Idea: On the way back from Jerusalem, Mary and Joseph can’t find Jesus because he’s hanging out at the temple soaking up every word. He’s listening with wide eyes no doubt. Later in his ministry we know that he depends on both his knowledge of scripture and his relationship with his father in heaven. Perhaps we need to recover the story seeking of children who always love to listen to stories. God’s story is the overarching story of our lives. Scriptures: Luke 2:41-52

  49. 294

    May 25-Faith Like A Child

May 25 - Boy with Loaves (ok with ordinary) Main Idea: When a crowd was hungry and the disciples were looking for food, a small boy offers up his lunch to share. Jesus blesses it and a miracle ensues. We would do well to have a childlike faith that’s willing to share. Piano Story p.165Scriptures: John 6:1-14

  50. 293

Faith Like a Child: Mary (abandon/trust)

Village Church RolesvilleSunday Message - May 18, 2025Tyler WilliamsLuke 1:26-38
