La Taranta pugliese: rito, musica e danza di ieri e di oggi
La prima volta che ho sentito la Taranta dal vivo ero in Salento, quattro anni fa, durante il festival che ogni estate trasforma i piccoli paesi della penisola salentina in palcoscenici a cielo aperto. Ogni sera un paesino diverso ma la stessa energia che si insinua sotto la pelle se ti lasci trasportare da un ritmo che sembra molto antico.L’anno scorso, durante un viaggio di studio a Francavilla Fontana con la mia collega Simona, mi sono avvicinata ancora di più a quella tradizione. Passando davanti a una bottega di cartapesta, ho incontrato Pietro Balsamo, cantante, suonatore e custode di una memoria musicale che in Puglia si tramanda di generazione in generazione. Quella sera ci ha invitati al suo laboratorio di pizzica pizzica, e insieme agli studenti abbiamo imparato i passi di questo meraviglioso ballo.La settimana scorsa sono tornata a Francavilla Fontana per organizzare il prossimo viaggio di studio con Simona nel suo paese natale, e abbiamo approfittato dell’occasione per andare a trovare Pietro nella sua bottega dove lavora la cartapesta, questa volta con una telecamera accesa.Gli abbiamo chiesto di tutto: le origini del rito e i simboli, il significato del morso della taranta, come la pizzica è sopravvissuta a secoli di trasformazioni e cosa è diventata oggi tra festival, turismo e nuove generazioni che la riscoprono.Spero che questa intervista ti appassioni, come ha appassionato me.
