Episode 16: Maximum Overdrive (1986)
"Honey! C'mon over here, Sugar-buns. This machine just called me an a**hole!"There's a certain stigma attached to the majority of Stephen King horror movies: they're all terrible. Some are so bad they're good and some are unwatchable. The subject of this episode has a reputation for both and we'll decide which opinion is more justified.Take one Brat Packer, add Lisa Simpson, mix in a handful of other "interesting" characters, and then dump them at a truck stop that is under attack by a bunch of automobiles and other machines that have come to life and you'll end up with Maximum Overdrive.Based on his own short story "Trucks," Stephen King decided to go from the writer's room to the director's chair for this one and (be it good or bad) brought his alcoholism and cocaine addiction along with him. The man was so drunk and coked out of his mind that he doesn't remember much of the experience and hasn't directed a movie since. Sounds perfect for this podcast, doesn't it?So come on down to The Dixie Boy with us. It'll be a memorable time for sure.

Episode 15: Trilogy of Terror (1975)
"Operator, get me the police! I DON'T KNOW where I'm located, just get me the police, there's a... there's a... just get me the police, PLEASE?"We all have moments that may traumatize us and that could include watching certain movies at certain ages. Melissa remembers watching Trilogy of Terror on television at three years old and has been afraid to revisit it...until now. When this movie is brought up in discussion, the subject matter is always about how terrifying the Zuni Fetish Doll is in the final story. But what about the other two tales in this anthology? Do they hold up to the final chapter with the doll? Are they a good enough hook to keep the viewer interested? What year did this movie really come out? And will Melissa be able to sleep at night after facing her fear of seeing "that f**king doll" one more time? All that and more will be discussed in Episode 15!

Episode 14: Leprechaun (1993)
"Nathan, that was no f**kin' bear.."Before Jennifer Aniston was busy hanging at the Central Perk, she was in North Dakota fighting an evil little Irish imp that just wanted his gold back. Well, we all got to start somewhere. Oh, boy. Lots to unpack with this one. One host understands how goofy the premise is and kind of allows it to unfold. The other doesn't care and hates it from beginning to end. From awful child acting and it being way more comedy than horror, to using children's toys as weapons and the director's obsession with showing off what brand of footwear the characters are wearing, there isn't a question that isn't asked. But hey. At least when it became Bugs Bunny and Wile E. Coyote, even the most upset host of the show admitted to laughing. We guess there's that.

Episode 13: The Cabin in the Woods (2011)
"Okay, I'm drawing a line in the f**king sand, here. Do not read the Latin."We all know the tropes when it comes to horror movies. There's always a certain type of character. They always just HAVE to have sex. The group ALWAYS splits up.But what if this was purposely made to happen by people in an underground facility, watching the groups every move? And what if said group is doing it so they can appease the Ancient Ones and keep the Earth from being destroyed?Yes you read that description right. Join us as we discuss this very smart love letter to the horror genre. It's meta. It's funny. It's bloody. It's The Cabin in the Woods.

Episode 12: My Bloody Valentine (1981)
"Roses are red, violets are blue, one is dead, and so are you."When it comes to Valentine's Day and horror movies, 99 percent of the time, My Bloody Valentine is brought up. The legend of psychotic miner Harry Warden is huge in the horror community and we're going to find out why.The film has some good things going for it: a creepy legend concerning the killer, a gory calling card from said killer, and some creative kills. But...there's also characters that are called kids when they're pushing 40 or older, lots of scenes that lead to nothing, and an ending that at least left one of our hosts shaking their head in disappointment. Is it worth the praise it's gotten over the decades or is it just another Hallmark holiday? And how many references to Carrie does this movie try to throw at you? Avoid the Valentine's Day dance and find out!

Episode 11: This is Spinal Tap (1984) - w/special guest Neil Preston
"The review you had on "Shark Sandwich", which was merely a two word review, just said 'Sh*t Sandwich'."Who didn't want to be a rock star growing up? The fame, fortune, and fans were something that would be welcome to a successful rock and roll band. However, it's a little different concerning Spinal Tap. Join us and our special guest Neil Preston as we talk about this little band's fall from grace. From props not working on stage to concerts being cancelled, Spinal Tap continues to push through it all, even when being second billed to a puppet show. Neil has worked nearly his entire life as a photographer for various rock and roll bands and he gives us some insider information on just how accurate some of these situations may be when it comes to life on the road. Make sure your amps are turned up to 11 and then shove an aluminum foil wrapped cucumber down the front of your pants because we're discussing This is Spinal Tap!

Episode 10: Halloween (1978)
"Death has come to your little town, Sheriff. Now, you can either ignore it, or you can help me to stop it."In 1978, John Carpenter directed a very small independent film known as "Halloween." With a tiny budget, a screenplay written in three weeks, and lots of unknown actors as actresses at the time, it relied on word of mouth to become successful. Successful is an understatement. Giving birth to Jamie Lee Curtis' movie career and starting a successful franchise, no one expected Halloween to blow up as much as it has after 40 plus years. But the man in the scary William Shatner mask known as Michael Myers proved to be the little engine that could, spawning a total of 13 films (which include a remake and its own sequel). It's one of the most popular horror movies of all time and for Episode 10, it was chosen for us through a poll and well, here we are. Eric has seen it dozens of times. Melissa saw it once when she was very young and remembers almost nothing. How will this horror classic stack up? Grab a some Halloween candy, light up that jack-o'-lantern, and find out!

Episode 09: REC (2007)
"Don't you touch the camera! We have to let everyone know what's going on here!"What seems to be a typical boring night for TV show host turns into a situation where she and a group of people have to fend for their lives against a horde of infected humans wanting to feast on their flesh, all while not being allowed outside the building due to police and military involvement trying to contain the virus inside. What happens when we decide to leave the cheesy horror movies behind and get back to discussing a truly scary movie? Well, Melissa will explain to everyone in earshot just how much she may have wished she was back in the mall with the Killbots from the last episode. Join us for Episode 09 as we deal with the infected people (and more) from 2007's Spanish horror film, REC.

Episode 08: Chopping Mall (1986)
"It's not you, Ferdy. I guess I'm just not used to being chased around a mall in the middle of the night by killer robots."So many things can be thought of when remembering shopping malls back in the 1980s: Credit cards, arcades, food courts, and even killer robots. Yes, killer robots. Join us as we stay in the Sherman Oaks Galleria from Episode 07 but trade in Nicolas Cage for a trio of security robots gone bad.Nudity, violence, low budget, and cheesiness are the requirements for anything associated with Roger Corman and Chopping Mall has all that. Does it work? Join us as we discuss this cult classic of technology gone completely wrong and see if we truly "have a nice day."

Episode 07: Valley Girl (1983)
"That techno-rock you guys listen to is gutless."Let's go back in time when the world was more vibrant, credit cards were a necessity, and Nicolas Cage hadn't gone full crazy. A man from the dark city finds the girl of his dreams at a party in the bright shiny Valley. Randy hates the Valley but will make an exception when he sees Julie. Julie must decide if she's going to stay with her narcissistic boyfriend and by doing so, continue to fit in with her friends...or decide to chance it all by going out with the non-conformist punk rock music listening Randy. Valley Girl is a favorite of Melissa's and she hasn't been able to hide her excitement about watching and discussing it. Eric is iffy on Nicolas Cage...but has been in love with EG Daily since childhood. Will this movie get two totally tubular reviews, or will one of them say it's grodey?

Episode 06: Troll 2 (1990)
"Half man, half plant. A goblin's favorite food."Have you ever wondered what happens when you have a director who can't speak English try to direct a crew of wannabe actors who can't act? What if you add a screenplay written by that same director's also non-English speaking wife and the fact that the screenplay was inspired by her friends suddenly becoming vegetarian? Add a bunch of little people walking around in potato sacks and cheap rubber Halloween masks and you get Troll 2.Oh, boy. Where do we start? A movie so bad yet has such a huge following that it is constantly played in theaters across the country for Midnight Movie Madness showings, as well as spawning the award winning documentary, "Best Worst Movie."This "movie" has it all: Trolls that are actually goblins, the spirit of a dead grandfather who can apparently freeze time, and even some witchy popcorn sex. With all that and more, is this movie really so bad it's good? Well grab yourself a double-decker bologna sandwich as we find out.

Episode 05: Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey (2023)
"Pooh, you need to help me. There, there's something wrong with Piglet. He just killed my wife. Please!"In 1926, writer A.A. Milne and illustrator E.H. Shepard got together and created the character of Winnie-the-Pooh. Before the end of that year more than 150,000 copies of the book were sold and Pooh, Piglet, and the rest of his friends from the Hundred Acre Wood became a huge hit in households everywhere. In 1966, The Walt Disney Company released their first animated adaptation of the silly ol' bear and the rest is history. Pooh Bear and is friends are now a major part of the Disney corporation and there seems to be no stopping that phenomenon. And then 2022 happened. The book rights to Winnie-the Pooh entered the public domain and a man named Rhys Frake-Waterfield went upon himself to write, direct, and produce a film where Pooh and Piglet become homicidal maniacs attacking and killing anyone that enters their territory.Join us as we discuss this film and try to wonder how something that was a pretty moderate success also earned five Golden Raspberry awards. How can something this panned help create a shared universe of killer creatures that also involve Peter Pan, Bambi Pinocchio, and the rest of the Hundred Acre Wood animals? And the major questions after all of this are: How much does Melissa regret doing this podcast and will there even be an Episode 06?

Episode 04: Carrie (1976)
"It has nothing to do with Satan, Mama. It's me. Me. If I concentrate hard enough, I can move things."High school. It can either create some of your best memories or it can possibly be the worst time of your life. It's bad enough if you're considered an outcast by your peers due to being the "weirdo," but then add the fact that your mother is the town religious fanatic that thinks everything is a sin. Poor Carrie White never had a chance.Even when one of the bullies tries to make the wrong thing right, it will not only lead to the worst night in Carrie's life, but the worst night in the lives of everyone going to the Senior Prom. Even back in 1976, it was wise to never pick on the student who's a little different, especially if they're telekinetic. In this episode, there are plenty of things to discuss: being an outcast, revenge, and how sometimes the real monsters are the human ones. Plus this is a first time watch for Melissa, so the biggest question will be if it lives up to the hype of its reputation or if it should drown in a bucket of pig's blood.

Episode 01: The Substance (2024)
"What has been used on one side, is lost on the other side. There's no going back."In the debut episode, Eric and Melissa tackle 2024's The Substance. A horror movie that seemingly came out of nowhere and took award shows by storm. Starring Demi Moore as Elisabeth Sparkle, an actress who has just turned 50 and is immediately considered too old for her television show. After using a black market drug known only as The Substance, a younger version of "herself" named Sue is "born" and starts to live the good life that Elisabeth still craves. The major catch is that after a week, things have to go back the way they were and Sue eventually comes to dislike that.Social commentary on aging mixed with a lot of body horror and a major WTF finale, The Substance is a huge way to start the podcast. Make sure to buckle up because it's going to be quite the ride.
