We Have To Talk About Dash Rendar
by Sophia Goodnight and Swamp Vendor
Join two queer 30-somethings every two weeks as they read (and occasionally watch) the Star Wars Legends oeuvre in publication order! They discuss the merits of the old extended universe and enjoy (or don't enjoy!) these pulpy sci-fi novels. And, eventually, they will talk about Dash Rendar. (We Need To Talk About Dash Rendar is our mirror-universe podcast, about a different franchise. We don't know why they picked that name.)

Isn't That Just A Little Bit Grandiose? (Omnibus A Long Time Ago... Vol 5 Pt 1)
Join Spoom and Ladel as we discuss the first half of Omnibus A Long Time Ago… Volume 5, Issues 86 - 96 of the original Marvel Star Wars run. This was mostly fun! The parts that weren't really pissed us off though. There's even an echo of Splinter of the Mind's Eye Leia… But also a full refusal of her? Truly the Marvel comics are a land of contrasts. Something Terrible Is Happening Here (The Great Heep)
Join Mallow and Busto as they discuss The Great Heep, the TV "movie" of Star Wars: Droids: The Adventures of R2-D2 and C-3PO. Well it's better than the TV series! It's bad, though. The best part is the Droid Snuff. In both senses. We Hate Droids (Star Wars Droids: The Adventures of R2-D2 and C-3PO)
Join G0-053 and MV3-R1K as they descend into one of the worst Saturday morning cartoons ever, Star Wars: Droids: The Adventures of R2-D2 and C-3PO. This show was like stepping softly in a danger zone with no weapon in our hands. We hated this so much. There was neither a clown nor a Paul Lind impersonator. What Kind Of A Fool Do You Take Me For (Ewoks Season 2 Episode 1(?))
After watching the first season of the Ewoks cartoon, we got so excited about it that we jumped ahead to season 2! We are the E-E-E-E-E-E (Ewoks Season 1)
The Star Wars Critic and the Angry Star Wars Nerd watched season one of the Ewoks Saturday Morning Cartoon – and guess what listener, you're one of today's lucky 10,000! Was the theme song sung by Indrid Cold? (No it was Taj Mahal). This is the most you've heard the Critic sing yet. Esoteric bits aside, this show was actually like. Passable. We didn't like, like it or anything, and we don't recommend it, but it's like. A basically okay Saturday Morning Cartoon. It sure gives us high hopes for Star Wars: Droids: The Adventures of R2-D2 and C-3PO so be sure to join us in 2 weeks for that!Listen to The March Of The Sinister Ducks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGL8Fx6SOjg Listen to the opening theme to Ewoks Season 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WFjM3QWKlE The Star Wars Critic can be found online at sophia-goodnight-poetry.tumblr.com and her other podcast Swords Against Cerebus can be found on gruppeshrike.netThe Angry Star Wars Nerd (who also did our cover art) can be found online at chalkpastelmancer.tumblr.com We Have To Talk About Dash Rendar's meager web presence is at talk-about-dash-rendar.tumblr.com We Have To Talk About Dash Rendar's theme music was composed by Avery Crimes

Some Kind Of Little Muffins (Ewoks: The Battle For Endor)
Gastri and Pythia watched Ewoks: The Battle For Endor and gang it's so bad. Last time we made some positive comparisons to Garth Marenghi's Darkplace and this time we make some negative comparisons. This movie was not even fun to watch. Don't watch this movie. There's not a sincere bone in this movie's blood. Wilford Brimley is awful. There's just orcs. At least there's a hot evil woman? And she gives Gastri an opening to talk about the biblical Witch of Endor? I don't know man, join us next week for Season 1 of the Ewoks Saturday morning cartoon.Gastri (who also did our cover art) can be found online at chalkpastelmancer.tumblr.com Pythia can be found online at sophia-goodnight-poetry.tumblr.com and her other podcast Swords Against Cerebus can be found on gruppeshrike.netWe Have To Talk About Dash Rendar's meager web presence is at talk-about-dash-rendar.tumblr.com We Have To Talk About Dash Rendar's theme music was composed by Avery Crimes

She's A Giggle Eater (Caravan of Courage An Ewok Adventure (formerly titled The Ewok Adventure)
Join hosts Peppermitt (she/her) and Perrault (they/them) as we discuss Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure (formerly titled The Ewok Adventure), which is legitimately a very fun movie. If you like made for tv family films from the 80s, you'll like this! We had such a good time that even our "Things We Didn't Like" section is mostly about what we liked, and we don't even meander to gripe about Joss Whedon until the last 15 minutes! This may be the happiest you'll ever hear Peppermitt and Perrault. Join hosts Dano (they/them) and Dana (she/her) as they discuss Star Wars Omnibus A Long Time Ago Volume 4, which collects issues 68-85 and Annual 3 of the original Marvel run of Star Wars comics. For the first time, Dano and Dana substantively disagree! Join us for some great segues and some spirited debate about caked up robots. The Hold Of The Mind-Witch Is Upon You (The Newspaper Strips Vol 2)
Join Po'od Cassa (she/her) and Wratte Kynnnge (they/them) to discuss Star Wars Epic Legends Collection: The Newspaper Strips Vol. 2, which collects the second half of the 70s to 80s Star Wars comic strip. We admit to a Buggles Boner and complain about The Thinker from TV's The Flash. And that's before we get to the comics! These were better than the first volume. We visit DNAngel for some reason and wax poetic about the improved lettering and art, not to mention the staggeringly beautiful women. I Have To See A Toad About A Man (Lando Calrissian And The Starcave of ThonBoka)
Join hosts Bateleur, a Sorcerer of Tunt (They/Them) and Étoile (She/Her) as we close out L. Neil Smith's Lando Calrissian Trilogy with Lando Calrissian And The Starcave of ThonBoka. The short version is that Smith crushed our spirits. Unlike our podcast, this book didn't have a point. Consider the many kinds of space whales and hear Bateleur (Sorcerer of Tunt) complain about Stephen Moffat. We'll also spoil the first Tiffany Aching book and aggressively defend LOST. And just another reminder, you can't be a misogynist if you don't have any female characters! Smith manages to be one anyway. What Price Lizard Mold (Lando Calrissian And The Flamewind of Oseon)
Join hosts Yellow Bird (she/her) and Waltzing Mouse (they/them) as we discuss Lando Calrissian And The Flamewind of Oseon by L. Neil Smith. Once again, we quite enjoyed this! It was less racist than the last one. We advocate for consensual torture and discuss memories of being Lost In The Mall. Yellow Bird does another unimpressive impression and Waltzing Mouse alludes to the AU where they're a Jordan Peterson type. Also introducing a new name for Waltzing Mouse's Implications Corner! Smoking A Lizard (Lando Calrissian And The Mindharp of Sharu)
This fortnight, hosts Wheel (they/them) and Endurance (she/her) read Lando Calrissian and the Mindharp of Sharu, the first entry in L. Neil Smith's Lando Calrissian Trilogy. We pretty much enjoyed it a lot! We're going to be with Smith for three episodes total, so keep tuning in to see how much that stays true. Hear Wheel beef with Iron Man 3 and Stephen King, and Endurance beef with the thesaurus. We promise the Dangerous Crow Boy joke was timely when we recorded this. Roiled in Malignant Ecstasy (Return of the Jedi) (Part 1/2)
Join hosts Pinafore Tyche (she/her) and Prurient A Scintilla (they/them) as they discuss Return of the Jedi, both the movie and the novelization by James Kahn. It was certainly better than the novelization of Empire Strikes Back! After a brief diversion about another James's Peacemaker, Pinafore and Prurient get down to brass tacks and discuss the Robocop and Men in Black cartoons. Ewoks are great, haters back off! This is part 1 of 2, because we went very very long. Oeuwhh The Very Mention Of His Name Makes Our Gyros Flutter (Rebel Mission to Ord Mantell)
Back in the warm embrace of Brian Daley, hosts and eggmates Naught Bos (they/them) and Tumoeis Bos (She/Her) discuss Rebel Mission to Ord Mantell, an audio play about that business with the bounty hunter back on Ord Mantell. It's really fun! Problem is, it's pretty short. This is why we discuss Tapirs as mounts, the Fastball Special, K-Pop Bounty Hunters (not like that), the giant rat that makes all da rules, Swamp Thing – Well ok that one's normal. We also touch on Adventures in Odyssey, but that's unfortunately relevant. The issue of Swamp Thing where Swamp Thing meets Pogo is Issue 32 and the Adam Strange issue Naught also brought up is Issue 57 Naught Bos (who also did our cover art) can be found online at chalkpastelmancer.tumblr.com Tumoesis Bos can be found online at sophia-goodnight-poetry.tumblr.comWe Have To Talk About Dash Rendar's meager web presence is at talk-about-dash-rendar.tumblr.com We Have To Talk About Dash Rendar's theme music was composed by Avery Crimes

Another episode of We Have To Talk About Dash Rendar about Comics? You know it! The Tanith Shire Direct Approach To Men (The Newspaper Strips Vol 1)
Join hosts Gabbiani (they/them) and Veruca (she/her) as we discuss the exceedingly lackluster The Newspaper Strips Volume 1. We didn't like this one, but at least it's no Splinter Of The Mind's Eye. Suffer through a discussion of Funky Winkerbean with a lot more ease than we suffered through these absolute nothing comics, and always remember, ARCAB (All Robot Cops Are Bastards). Stand Thou Aside Grubbers (Star Wars Omnibus A Long Time Ago... Vol 2)
In this episode of We Have To Talk About Dash Rendar, join hosts Chaos-Take-You Windshear (they/them) and Prim Incaendo (she/her) at the Darklighter Estate as they discuss Star Wars Omnibus A Long Time Ago… Vol 2, which collects issues 28-49 and Annual 1 of the original Marvel run of Star Wars. It's significantly better than Volume 1! We mostly enjoyed it. We touch on the Apostle Paul again when discussing a Droid Weeaboo, and determine that this actually came out before The Toxic Avenger. Chaos-Take-You also takes a bold stance on Farscape.Prim Incaendo's feature on the podcast The Poets can be found here, or as episode 138 of The Poets on any podcast app: https://thepoets.co/2025/09/23/138-sophia-goodnight/ Chaos-take-You Windshear (who also did our cover art) can be found online at chalkpastelmancer.tumblr.com Prim Incaendo can be found online at sophia-goodnight-poetry.tumblr.comWe Have To Talk About Dash Rendar's meager web presence is at talk-about-dash-rendar.tumblr.com We Have To Talk About Dash Rendar's theme music was composed by Avery Crimes

We Are Your Steel Brothers (Han Solo And The Lost Legacy)
For the latest episode of We Have To Talk About Dash Rendar, your hosts Rosenguild and Sterncrantz read Han Solo and the Lost Legacy, the last Star Wars novel by Brian Daley. Don't let the shortness of the "things we liked" section fool you, we LOVED this book! Actually I'm not sure why this episode is so short, there was a lot to talk about and I think we talked about it? Including the old Fallout games and the works of Charlie Kaufman. It's like Anton Chekhov said: if a funnel cake is purchased in chapter 8, it must be jammed in the blow-hole of a sapient Loch Ness Monster in chapter 9.Sterncrantz used some new-to-her editing techniques this time around, so we're sorry for the couple of audio oddities! Pray I Don't Alter It Any Further (The Empire Strikes Back)
This week join Rogue 4 Miff and Rogue 13 Nak as they discuss The Empire Strikes Back, both the novelization by Donald Glut and the film. The book was…. not great. It wasn't bad, it was no Splinter of the Mind's Eye! But it wasn't good. We discuss Land of the Lost and learn some very personal details about Miff, as well as the fact that neither Miff nor Nak can do a Harrison Ford impression. Also expect speculation on Space Shakespeare's The Taming of the Tauntaun. Join us in 2 weeks when we cover Brian Daley's final Han Solo novel, Han Solo and the Lost Legacy.Sorry for the long episode despite our claims that it would be a 2-parter; it ended up being just too short to reasonably split!Miff can be found online at sophia-goodnight-poetry.tumblr.comNak (who also did our cover art) can be found online at chalkpastelmancer.tumblr.com We Have To Talk About Dash Rendar's meager web presence is at talk-about-dash-rendar.tumblr.com We Have To Talk About Dash Rendar's theme music was composed by Avery Crimes

You Need A Damn Plumber! (Han Solo's Revenge)
Your hosts Hobart Floyt and Alacrity Fitzhugh are back with the second of Brian Daley's Han Solo novels, Han Solo's Revenge. Hey it's another pretty good one! This week we discuss clowns, Revolver Ocelot, Pluto (surprise!) and pterosaur anatomy. You'll also learn the difference between Repo Man and Repo Men. Note to astute listeners: We recorded this episode on June 8th, shortly after Deltarune Chapters 3+4 came out, and before Alacrity Fitzhugh had the chance to play them. Not a bad collection! We go for Apostle Paul's throat for absolutely no reason (besides the fact that he's the worst) this week. Literally no reason.
