WMMA Press 2015 Inspirational Fighters of the Year Presentation
For the WMMA Press Committee, it was hard to pick just one Inspiratinal Fighter of the Year. Both earned the honor for different reasons.One is a dedicated law enforcement officer who was on the frnt lines of one of the biggest riots in the country's history. Only weeks after it had settled, she went on to fight at Invcita. She not only keeps the street safe, but offers help to animals and people alike.The other has had the greaest cmeback in female fighting history. Opening her career at 1-11, she went on to go on a four fight win streak and has won six of her last eight.We will talk to one of the winners and annunce both.

Each year, the WMMA Press committee, made up of six journalists that cover the female divisions in MMA, pick their favorites of the year.We will be giving away two awards on the show. Many recent books have taken a personal and historical prospective on females taking up combat sports. A book just published takes a look at the expansion through a scientific and scholastic view.Dr. Alex Channon along with his colleague Dr. Christopher R. Matthews has complied research and have published "Global Perspectives on Women in Combat Sports: Women Warriors around the World". The book looks into why women are starting to be accepted in these sports, and the hurdles they are facing as the sports grow globally. Channon is a Doctor of Sports Sociology from the University of Greenwich and has researched the topic for several years, including publishing papers on women competing in the sports, and how it in itself has a psychological and societal impact. In part two, we discuss marketing in female fight sports, how technology has helped expand acceptance of female fighting, the expansion of the sport globally, and why MMA seems to be leading the way in getting women accepted in combat sports across the board.

Boxing Champion Maureen Shea
It's been a decade since women's boxing hit a ppv inside a ring. Mosley Productions has stepped up with a solid title match for their August 29th. We will talk to one of the best in the world, Maureen Shea, who looks to add the IBF World super bantamweight championship to her mantle. Shea (24-2) won her past 10 bouts, with half of her wins by TKO or KO. The current IBA super bantamweight champ helped Hillary Swank train for the movie “Million Dollar Baby” and was featured in the documentary “Fight Like a Girl”.

Documentry filmmaker Jill Morley documented her journey into boxing and tells stories of the many female pugilists she encounters along the way in the award winning documentry "Fight Like a Girl". Morley’s story of abuse and depression is the main focus of the movie, which proves fighting is not only a physical game but a mental one as well. Each fighter including Morely must not only fight opponents and fatigue; they also must overcome doubt, heartbreak, and past traumas.Among them, a boxer looking to snap a losing streak (Kim Tomes), one on the rise in the sport but fighting ageism (Susan Merlucci), and an undefeated pro recovering from mental stumbling blocks as she seeks gold (Maureen Shea).We will talk to Morley about the film, and the reaction she has been getting from fans and fellow boxers.

WMMA Press Awards Amateur of the year 2014 Presentation
The 2014 WMMA Press Awards is the longest running awards of it's type to recognize the women's MMA divisions.The comittee is made up of seven reporters that are experts in the WMMA community who cover the sport not only nationally but internationally. We have the honor of awarding this year's Amateur of the Year Award to Amada Lino, the first international fighter to win this honor. The South African went 6-0 in 2014 and won the first ever IMMAF featherweight tournament.Lino has talked to us from South Africa to accept the award.

WMMA Press Legacy Award Presentation
The WMMA Press awards is the longest running awards for the women's division of MMA.A honor that is given on a deserving basis is the "Legacy Award" an honor that goes to an individiual who has helped shape and pioneer women's MMA. This year we will give that honor to Barry Meyer (posthumously) through his brother Jeff, who both helped run Tuff-n-uff MMA helping develop amateur mixed martial arts and develop stars such as Ronda Rousey.We will also talk to Jeff about the finals of the InvictaFC contract tournament and the outlook for the promotion in 2015.
