Leadership conversations are rarely about the words alone. Sometimes a team member says everything is fine, yet something still feels unsettled. Other times a conversation seems clear on the surface, but deeper tension remains beneath it. One of the most important leadership skills you can develop is the ability to listen beyond the surface. In this episode, we explore how leaders can learn to listen more like Jesus — paying attention not only to what people say, but also to the deeper concerns, emotions, and challenges that may remain unspoken.   In This Episode We discuss: • Why people often say less than they truly feel in workplace conversations • How leaders can recognise subtle signals that something deeper may be happening • The role of thoughtful questions in uncovering hidden concerns • Why listening well strengthens trust and leadership influence • What Scripture teaches us about listening with wisdom and compassion You will also learn how slowing down conversations and asking better questions can reveal insights that help you lead your team more effectively.   Prepare for the Difficult Conversation You’ve Been Avoiding If you’ve been sensing that a conversation on your team needs to happen but you’re unsure how to approach it, the Confident Conversation Sprint will help you prepare for it step by step. 📅 May 25–29, 2026 This 5-day guided experience walks leaders through preparing one difficult conversation they’ve been avoiding. What if the behaviour you’re seeing… isn’t the real issue? In this powerful and deeply meaningful conversation, I’m joined by Dr Melanie Gray to explore what it truly looks like to lead people with compassion, discernment, and Christlike understanding. 162 | How to Build a Culture of Healthy Accountability

Many leaders want to create a positive, supportive workplace culture. But sometimes in the effort to keep things harmonious, something important quietly disappears: accountability. When expectations are not addressed clearly and difficult conversations are delayed, teams can slowly drift into patterns where problems repeat, standards drop, and frustration builds beneath the surface. The truth is that healthy accountability is not about criticism or micromanagement. It is about creating a culture where people understand expectations, take responsibility for their work, and trust that issues will be addressed with wisdom and fairness. In this episode, we explore what healthy accountability really looks like in a Christ-centred leadership context and how leaders can begin strengthening this culture within their teams.   In This Episode We discuss: • Why accountability is often misunderstood in leadership • How avoiding difficult conversations quietly weakens team culture • The role clarity plays in creating healthy accountability • Why accountability should be a normal part of leadership, not a rare intervention • How addressing issues early protects both relationships and team morale • The courage required to lead conversations that create alignment and growth You will also learn why accountability is not about control, but about protecting the health, clarity, and integrity of the team.   Prepare for the Difficult Conversation You’ve Been Avoiding If you know there is a conversation you need to have but you’ve been unsure how to approach it, the Confident Conversation Sprint will help you prepare for it step by step. 📅 May 25–29, 2026 This 5-day guided experience walks you through a simple process to prepare for one difficult conversation you’ve been avoiding. 161 | I Knew What to Say… So Why Didn’t I Say It?

Have you ever walked away from a leadership moment and thought: "I knew exactly what I should have said… but I didn’t say it." Many capable leaders experience this frustrating gap between knowing what good leadership looks like and actually responding that way in the moment. You replay the conversation later. You think of the words you wish you had said. You wonder whether you handled the situation correctly. The truth is, this struggle is far more common than most leaders realise. The challenge usually isn’t a lack of wisdom. It’s the pressure of the moment. When emotions are high, when someone becomes defensive, or when the situation feels tense, even experienced leaders can hesitate, soften what needs to be said, or delay a conversation entirely. This is what I call the consistency gap — the space between what you know is wise and what you actually say or do in the moment. In this episode, we explore why this gap happens and how leaders can begin closing it through preparation, clarity, and Christ-centred leadership wisdom.   In This Episode We discuss: • Why even experienced leaders hesitate in difficult conversations • How emotional pressure affects leadership decisions • The hidden burden of carrying responsibility for everyone else’s emotions • Why delaying conversations often makes situations worse • How preparation helps leaders respond with calm authority instead of reacting emotionally You’ll learn why confident leadership is rarely about personality or boldness. Instead, it grows from clarity, preparation, and wisdom grounded in Scripture.   Prepare for the Difficult Conversation You’ve Been Avoiding If there’s a conversation you know you need to have — but you keep putting it off — I want to invite you to join the Confident Conversation Sprint. 📅 May 25–29, 2026 This is a 5-day guided experience designed to help you prepare for one difficult conversation you’ve been avoiding. 160 | The 5 Communication Mistakes Even Smart Leaders Make

Have you ever walked away from a leadership conversation and thought, “Why did I say it like that?” Or maybe the opposite — you didn’t say what needed to be said at all. Communication becomes far more complicated when leadership, expectations, and emotions are involved. Even very capable leaders can struggle to express difficult messages clearly without sounding harsh, apologetic, or uncertain. In this episode, we unpack five common communication mistakes that even smart, thoughtful leaders make — especially when navigating difficult conversations with their teams. You’ll learn why these mistakes happen, how they quietly weaken your leadership authority, and what it looks like to communicate with clarity while still leading with grace.   In this episode, you’ll learn: Why communication becomes harder when leadership pressure and emotion are involved The most common mistake leaders make before a difficult conversation even begins How over-softening your message can unintentionally create confusion Why over-explaining often signals insecurity in leadership communication The danger of delaying conversations that need to happen sooner How preparation helps you stay calm and clear in emotionally charged moments If difficult conversations sometimes leave you replaying what you said — or wishing you had said something differently — this episode will help you begin approaching those moments with greater clarity and confidence.   Next Step: Difficult Conversations Script Pack If difficult conversations are one of the areas where you often think, "I know what needs to be said… I just don’t know how to say it well," I created something specifically to help with that. The Difficult Conversations Script Pack gives you practical scripts for real leadership moments — including: • addressing performance concerns • responding when someone becomes defensive • managing gossip or team tension • setting expectations clearly • navigating conflict between team members These are Christ-honouring leadership scripts designed to help you communicate with clarity, wisdom, and calm authority. This conversation will help you see that integrating faith into leadership doesn’t have to be complicated or forced. Sometimes, it’s the small, consistent acts of obedience that create the greatest impact.   In This Episode We explore: • how Matt began writing daily devotionals for his team • why consistency matters more than perfection in faith-led leadership • how personal stories can connect deeply with people in the workplace • the impact of bringing Scripture into everyday leadership moments • how devotionals have shaped the culture at Churchill Mortgage • what it looks like to lead with faith without being performative or pushy • how simple spiritual practices can influence how people show up at work and at home   A Key Leadership Truth: You don’t need a platform to influence people — you need consistency. 158 | How to Lead Like Jesus When You’re Under Pressure

Pressure doesn’t create your leadership — it reveals it. And when the expectations are high, the demands are constant, and everyone is looking to you for answers, it can feel incredibly hard to stay calm, grounded, and Christlike. In this episode, we look closely at how Jesus led under pressure — not in quiet moments, but in conflict, exhaustion, misunderstanding, and chaos. 157 | When God Uses Difficult People to Grow You as a Leader

Every leader has at least one person who tests their patience, confidence, and faith. The one who challenges every decision, pushes your buttons, or makes leadership feel heavier than it should. In this episode, we explore a hard but freeing truth: sometimes the very people you’re praying God would remove are the ones He’s using to grow you. Not because their behaviour is right — but because God develops strong, Spirit-led leaders through pressure, tension, and challenge. This is an honest, faith-filled conversation about boundaries, confidence, discernment, and leadership maturity — and how God uses difficult relationships to refine the leader you’re becoming. In this episode, you’ll learn: Why difficult people often reveal growth, not failure How challenging relationships strengthen boundaries, confidence, and clarity What God may be developing in you through uncomfortable leadership moments How to respond with wisdom instead of frustration or self-doubt How to lead like Jesus when people stretch you emotionally and spiritually Next Step If difficult people have been draining your confidence or making you question your leadership, you don’t have to navigate that alone. 156 | 5 Ways Christian Leaders Accidentally Contribute to Toxic Culture (and Don’t Realize It)

Most leaders can recognise a toxic culture when they walk into one — but far fewer realise how easily they may be unintentionally contributing to it themselves. In this episode, we explore five subtle, often well-intentioned leadership patterns that quietly reinforce unhealthy culture, especially for Christian women who want to lead with kindness, grace, and compassion. From avoiding conflict to softening communication and over-functioning for others, these habits don’t come from bad leadership — they come from caring deeply. This episode isn’t about blame or shame. It’s about awareness, clarity, and learning how to lead culture with confidence instead of absorbing it. In this episode, you’ll learn: Why toxic culture isn’t always caused by toxic people How kindness without clarity can unintentionally create confusion and dysfunction The leadership patterns that quietly weaken trust, safety, and accountability What Christ-centred, Spirit-led leadership looks like when culture feels hard How to shift from people-pleasing to confident, healthy leadership Next Step If this episode stirred self-doubt or made you question whether you’re “leading well enough,” you’re not alone. Have you ever felt like God was calling you into something… but everything inside you whispered, “Surely not me?” Today’s conversation is for every woman who has ever felt unqualified, unsure, or overwhelmed by the weight of leadership — yet sensed that God was asking her to step forward anyway. In this episode, I’m joined by Rhonda Mincey, founder of Hope Springs Africa, whose story is a powerful reminder that obedience often comes before confidence. Have you ever felt physically sick before a difficult conversation? Or spent days rehearsing what to say, only to walk away wishing you’d said it differently? You’re not alone — and you’re not weak for feeling that way. In Part 5 of our series “Leadership Struggles Women Don’t Talk About,” we’re talking about a topic many female Christian leaders quietly wrestle with: 👉 Managing conflict. Not the professional steps. Not the scripts. Not the “leadership textbook answer.” But the emotional weight of it. Why it feels intimidating. Why women shy away from it. And why avoiding conflict actually makes leadership heavier — not easier. 136 | [Series] Leadership Struggles Women Don’t Talk About Part 4 - Gossip & toxic cultures

Gossip, tension, and toxic environments can quietly destroy the trust and peace in any workplace — and as a leader, you often feel caught in the middle. In this episode, I share practical and biblical strategies to help female Christian leaders lead with grace, integrity, and confidence — even when the workplace feels heavy. You’ll discover how to guard your heart, set the tone for a healthy culture, and replace gossip with open, respectful communication that reflects Christ. Key Takeaways Gossip and negativity are symptoms of a deeper leadership challenge — one that requires spiritual and emotional maturity. True leadership isn’t about controlling every voice — it’s about managing your own heart and response. A healthy culture starts with one courageous leader who’s willing to model honesty, humility, and compassion. When people feel seen and valued, gossip loses its grip. Reflection Questions Where in your workplace have you allowed gossip or negativity to linger instead of addressing it? How can you lead by example and shift the tone toward respect this week? What would it look like to trust God to defend your reputation — instead of trying to manage it yourself? Take these to prayer or journaling time this week and ask the Holy Spirit to show you where He’s calling you to lead with truth and love. 130 | Equipping Yourself with the Armor of God as a Leader

Leadership can feel like stepping onto a battlefield: criticism, burnout, doubt, and temptation can leave you feeling exposed. But God hasn’t left you defenceless. In this episode, I unpack the full armor of God from Ephesians 6 and show how each piece can strengthen your leadership journey. You’ll discover: How the belt of truth grounds your leadership in integrity Why the breastplate of righteousness protects your motives and credibility What it means to walk in the shoes of peace, even during conflict How to use the shield of faith to deflect doubt, criticism, and gossip Why the helmet of salvation is key to overcoming imposter syndrome How the sword of the Spirit equips you to lead with clarity and authority This is a daily practice that equips you to lead with confidence, wisdom, and grace. Whether you’re walking into a tough meeting or leading through seasons of uncertainty, the armor of God will help you stand firm. Prayer prompts mentioned in the episode: 1. The Belt of Truth (Ephesians 6:14) “Lord, fasten me with Your truth today. Guard me from lies and half-truths. Let everything I say and do as a leader be rooted in Your Word.” 2. The Breastplate of Righteousness (Ephesians 6:14) “Lord, cover my heart with Your righteousness. Protect me from pride, fear, or compromise. Help me to lead with integrity even when no one is watching.” 3. Shoes of the Gospel of Peace (Ephesians 6:15) “Lord, fit my feet with Your peace. Help me walk into every situation as a peacemaker, not a peacekeeper. Let others sense Your presence through me.” 4. The Shield of Faith (Ephesians 6:16) “Lord, strengthen my faith today. Help me to hold up the shield when doubts, gossip, or fear come my way. I trust in Your promises.” 5. The Helmet of Salvation (Ephesians 6:17) “Lord, protect my mind with the assurance of salvation. Guard me from discouragement and self-doubt. Fill my thoughts with Your truth.” 6. The Sword of the Spirit (Ephesians 6:17) “Lord, equip me with Your Word as my sword. Let Scripture be on my lips, guiding my decisions and encouraging my team.” 7. Prayer (The Power Behind the Armor) (Ephesians 6:18) “Lord, help me to pray in the Spirit at all times. Cover my leadership with Your strength and wisdom. Make me alert, faithful, and Spirit-led.” Reflection: Which piece of armor do you most often forget to “put on”? How would your leadership change if you prayed through the armor each morning? What battle are you facing right now that requires God’s protection, not just your effort? Ready to go deeper? 122 | The Middle Manager's Dilemma: Leading Up & Managing Down

What's the #1 thing holding you back from leading confidently? Take the free quiz to find out: https://womenoffaithinleadership.com/quiz/   Have you ever felt stuck between a rock and a hard place in your leadership role? One moment, you're fielding expectations from senior leadership, and the next, you’re navigating tension within your team. If you're a middle manager or in any leadership role where you're both leading up and managing down, this episode is for you. Middle management is one of the most challenging places to lead from. You're not “at the top,” but you’re also not “just a leader” anymore. You carry the weight of implementing company-wide decisions, while still advocating for your employees and customers. You're both bridge and buffer. The challenge? When things go wrong, you’re often the one stuck trying to defend a policy you didn’t create, or explain decisions that you weren’t part of. But here’s the truth: God has positioned you here on purpose. And there is a way to lead with integrity, grace, and strength, even in the tension. In this episode, I walk through 3 biblical and practical strategies to lead both up and down—without losing yourself in the process. Reflection/Action Steps in the episode: 1. Reflection: Where in your leadership are you prioritizing image over integrity? 2. Action Step: Practice “translating” big-picture leadership goals into meaningful, actionable direction for your team. And when speaking up to senior leaders, bring solutions, not just problems. 3.Prayer Prompt: “God, help me to lead faithfully in the unseen. When I feel stretched thin, remind me that my strength comes from You, not from others’ recognition.” Book mentioned: John Maxwell 360 degree leader: https://amzn.to/4o2htXM  Subscribe to the Weekly Newsletter Subscribe to the weekly newsletter for faith-based leadership tips, inspiring stories, early bird event invites, and exclusive updates.
