    My Approach to Counseling

In this powerful episode of Marauder Radio, I break down how I blend personality, lived experience, and evidence-based approaches to create a counseling style that actually works. I focus on helping men navigate anger and resentment, and couples move through conflict toward something healthier, more honest, and more connected.

  3. 7

    Anger is a Behavior

In this "treasured episode" of Marauder Radio, I explore anger not just as a feeling, but as both a behavioral and physiological response to our thinking. Our thoughts drive our emotions—and those emotions, in turn, activate real physical responses in our bodies. Those emotional and physical reactions need expression. They will come out in some form of behavior. When that behavior looks like yelling, kicking, screaming, fighting, punching, drinking, or using drugs, we label it as “anger.”But what’s really happening beneath the surface? These behaviors are ways the body releases the energy of the fight-or-flight stress response—fueled by deeper emotions like hurt, fear, or both.At its core, anger is the sound that hurt and fear make as they leave our soul.

    Acknowledge, Accept, & Replace

When it comes to managing anxiety, there may be no better medicine than taking action. In this "treasured episode" of Marauder Radio, I walk through a simple, memorable framework—fittingly built around the letter “A”: Acknowledge – Accept – Act (or Replace). When you begin to feel anxious, the first step is to acknowledge it. Be present. Call it out for what it is instead of avoiding or denying it.The second step is to accept it. Gather the data. Look at the facts and the logic behind why you might be feeling this way. Acceptance doesn’t mean agreement—it means understanding.Once you’ve acknowledged and accepted your anxiety, you’re ready to act. That might mean taking a concrete step forward, or it might mean replacing the thoughts that are driving the emotional and physical response we call anxiety.
