What to expect if you plan on bringing your DOG to Yellowstone Park!

This short podcast discusses the rules about bringing your dog with you to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. We discuss and read off the rules straight from the park website which basically tells you you have to keep your dog next to your vehicle or you will get a big ticket. We then got over some stories about how some dogs actually got their owners killed in the park and the main reasons for all the strict rules about brining your pet to the parks and how they could adversely effect the park wildlife. We also tell you about some great boarding places near the West Entry gate where we take our dog when we go into the park as well as some great hiking spots just outside the park boundaries where you CAN take you dog with you on a great hike including one where there will be dozens of other dogs on the trails with you and your pet.

How Does Old Faithful Work??? A description on how the Granddaddy of them all erupts.

In this episode, we answer Becky from Wisconsin's question about how Old Faithful works. I discuss how when I was a kid, just 50 years ago, Old Faithful went off every hour. Today, it goes off about every 90 minutes. I this podcast we discuss why the time between eruptions is slowing down and also what Old Faithful, and all the other geysers in the park are made of and why they don't simply blow apart during every eruption. If you would like to see some diagrams and videos and pics of this episode, look on You Tube under Yellowstone Weekly and if you have a question about anything in the parks or even outside the parks, send it to [email protected] and we might include it in a future podcast.

The Canyon Visitors Center and The Map Room at Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel.

On this weeks podcast, we answer a question from Mark in Florida who asked, "which Visitors Center in the park is the best one to visit?". And hands down, that is the VC in the Canyon Area. We discuss all the great things in that VC and for a little icing on the cake, we also discuss one of my other favorite stops in the park, the fabulous Map Room in the Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel which was designed by none other than famed architect Robert Reemer who also designed the Old Faithful Inn.
