Your Story Ep 65 : Charmaine. Food History, Writing and What You Don’t Know of Indian Food

Some people have a passion for food that goes beyond what most of us have. Click to share on Twitter Do you love food? I mean really love it, in all the different ways that it can mean. The history, the preparation, the eating, the sharing! Or do you just eat food because you have to, as the cooking is more of a task that has to be put up with in order to eat. Charmaine O'Brien For some people food is more than just simple sustenance and for Charmaine O’Brien food is far more than just that! We all eat but it’s rare to find someone who embodies food in more than just the simplest body nurturing way. Occasionally I come across someone who eats, breathes and sleeps food, and recently at the Oral History Association of Australia conference in Melbourne, I had the good fortune to meet and ask Charmaine to come onto the show and tell us about her interest in food, based on the stimulating presentation and menu she prepared for the dinner. What’s on the menu? – 100 years ago! It’s not often that we get to taste a historical menu from post colonial, Australian cookbooks and discover that food reproduced from 100+ years ago is not just boiled mutton and lard with damper. As we discuss on this episode of Your Story, the meal was a wonderful blend of different ingredients that we no longer think of using and a surprise to realise how well the people of Victorian Australia ate, despite the challenges of preparing food without all the modern appliances that we now take for granted. Presentation @OHAA Charmaine opened my eyes to how well they ate in the 19th century and some of the reasons for how things have changed over the last 120 years. Ep 63 : Craig. Creating the Best Stove Top Espresso Machine from a Classic

Build a better mousetrap and the world will beat a path to your door – NOT! **BLAM!… Out of nowhere you have the inspiration of a great idea. You’ve just dreamed up a new and novel way of doing something that everyone will want and now all you have to do is show it to the world for the fame and fortune to be yours. Too easy! Now to make it happen… How many times have you heard or thought this yourself? OTTO Espresso Good ideas are like grains of sand on the beach, very few will ever find their way to an oyster to become a pearl. Craig Hiron Craig Hiron has learned the lesson, that there are four main steps to making a raging success, while developing one of the hardest design tasks around in the OTTO Espresso. The easiest aspect of any new project is the inspiration, where everyone has a good idea… But of the millions of good ideas, few make it to the serious design phase, where the reality of the idea will normally fall by the wayside… Leaving few, to move on and deal with the challenges of  manufacturing… Then only to be left on the shelf without great marketing, but the use of sources as Local Viking helped with this. . By the time an idea has been through each part of this process, with sometimes hundreds of thousands of steps, dealing with multiple complication of ideas, people, finance and business, very few ever survive to become a viable success. And then you have to measure success? The Classic Atomic and the OTTO Craig tells us of his journey to create, from the inspired classic form of the Atomic Stove Top Cappuccino Maker, something that takes 21st century technologies and creates the ultimate portable cook top espresso maker. When the OTTO Espresso was released I immediately ordered one because of my love for my Atomic and it’s classic form but also with full regard for the challenges of manufacturing the OTTO. My unboxing video is below. Craig explains in detail in this episode of Your Story the challenges of finding a product to develop, all the way through the design, manufacturing and marketing process. Bringing the inspired idea to fruition is is a tale of determination to overcome the pitfalls and a great lesson for anyone interested in product design, manufacturing and marketing, including the use of social media with the use of marketing tools such as SocialPilot Review that is perfect for this. Your Story Ep 62 : John & Cheryl. Helping the Children of Argentina through Tango

Using their pleasure for tango to help others who desperately need it Click to share on Twitter We’ve all had the experience where we’ve gained so much value from people or an activity that we feel a need to return something. It called reciprocity  – the desire to do something in return. Cheryl & John In this episode of  Your Story we talk to John and Cheryl Lowry about how they have fulfilled this desire in themselves for all the pleasure that they’ve had from being involved in learning and dancing tango. They’ve returned the favour not to the greater tango community but by using that communities desire to dance tango socially as a means of generating income to support disadvantaged children in Argentina by setting up Para Los Niños children’s charity. Internationally supported The charity is supported internationally to enable income to be generated through milongas (tango dances) which is then used in Argentina to support many desperately in need children to have what we would call the necessities of life. Here is an example of one of the Milongas that has been orginised in aid of Para Los Niños. Or have you ever wondered how it is for someone who isn’t just curious but identifies with being the opposite sex? I like many people have wondered these things from time to time. What is that like and how does someone deal with it? Lorelei Today we talk with Lorelei, originally from Northern New South Wales but now living in Brisbane who is 18 months into transitioning from being a male electrician working in a sugar mill to a female natural therapist. Now that must be some journey! Episode 59 : Jane Teresa. Science and Dream Interpretation

Ramblings or real understanding from your dreams Ever woken in the morning and wondered what that dream meant? Sure you may be able to second guess what it’s all about if the dream was similar to what’s going on in your day life but we’ve all had those dreams that confound any sense of meaning. And even if we did have some understanding, can we really trust those supposed meanings. Aren’t they, after all, just the random mumblings of our subconscious mind and not important anyway? Jane Teresa Anderson Or are they? Maybe we can guess or ask someone who “supposedly” knows what they may mean, for some real insight but aren’t they just as clueless as us? Well maybe not everyone… The filters we look life through Jane Teresa Anderson is one of those people who can help with our understanding of our dream-life but with a twist. She comes to dream interpretation, not from the esoteric fields of connecting with your hidden spirit guide, while dancing amongst the flowers, where everything is touchy-feely but from the world of hard core science. Trained in the UK with a Honours Degree in Zoology, specialising in developmental biology with some neurophysiological research, Jane Teresa had taken her analytical scientific approach into the world of understanding dreams, their meanings and how they influence our lives. She knows that with an understanding of our dreams we can not only understand our current lives but we can also impact on what we want to achieve in our daily experiences. Dream interpretation is a real diagnostic tool to better live our lives and help us understand how we are evolving in our personal life towards achieving what we want for ourselves. In this Episode 59 of Your Story Jane Teresa gives us an overview of her journey through the sciences to end up in this, not so science recognised field of understanding. She also has an hour long weekly podcast with invited guests discussing their dreams and their meanings along with private coaching and professional services. Your Story Ep 58 : Adam. Joy of Family Back Home in Canada with a New Career as a PMD

What is a Producer of Marketing and Distribution? – PMD Welcome back everyone! …And welcome back to Adam Daniel Mezei who we last heard of back in Episode 25 while mid-way through his 5 year European sojourn, living in Prague. I had decided to take up his invitation and drop in on this crazy Canuck who I meet on Twitter while I was spending a couple months in Europe back in 2008. Adam at Toronto International Film Festival As I mentioned back then, I had a wonderful three days with Adam as he showed me around the sights of Prague, looking after my every need as a tourist wanting to understand the city but also to understand this Canadian ex-pat making a go of it in the Czech Republic. We’ve stayed in touch over the last 2.5 years since I was there through Twitter and Facebook and I knew he had returned to his home city of Toronto to chase down his new dream as a PMD for Hire, helping film industry professionals to grasp the dynamics of marketing and distributing films in this new era where the old systems aren’t holding up to the dynamic flux being created by the internet, and that’s why taking advantage of this with marketing services like online marketing Sydney can be helpful to promote any kind of product. This is the same skill-set that Adam used in Prague, in a trivial way, to organise me to settle immediately and get to see the sights of the Golden City. The same skills he had been honing in networking to satisfy the desires of other ex-pats as clients who wanted to do business in The Czech Republic and didn’t know where to start. These skills of creating a network is what he’s bringing to film makers who don’t know the new playing field of marketing and distributing their films. You can find more marketing information and guidance by going here. Bringing a new marketing skill set to Film Makers Adam is the “Mr Wolf from Pulp Fiction“, who is called in to sort out the Marketing Issues for movie makers overwhelmed by the demand to be noticed amongst the white noise generated by many great movies that are never noticed and simply fade away to the discount bins where they can never return their funding. In this Episode 58 of Your Story, Adam and I catch up (sadly not in person but on Skype) about what he’s been up to, why he left Europe and how he’s resettled into Toronto. We chat about the importance of family to him and the advantages of being in North America for his PMD work and what he can do for clients. Your Story Ep 57 : John. Writing, Work Ethic and Celebrity

Talent, hard work and good fortune this is what made the success for John Birmingham Sometimes we can read a book that has a significant impact on our understanding of things. To come to an understanding of what Sydney is… it’s history and personality, I needed to read Leviathan : The Unauthorised Biography of Sydney and get under it’s hem stained skirt to really understand just what Sydney was really like and how it got to be like that. Leviathan then gave me a whole new understand of this city by the harbour as I live there back in 2001. John Birmingham Leviathan was my introduction to John Birmingham and his writing style. A style that is entertaining while still immensely informative, pulling no punches from telling it as it is but with humour all the way, albeit sometimes a very dark humour. John is a local Brisbane lad, who grew up in Ipswich after migrating from the UK with his family in the ’70’s. He’s one of the  better known writers in Australia initially for his 1994 share house exposé, He Died with a Felafel in His Hand that later went onto stage shows and a film but now his notoriety is for his columns and articles in numerous publications including Brisbane Times and an ever extending long list of published novels and researched non-fiction. In recent years he’s written the Axis of Time trilogy and is now two books into the Without Warning trilogy with the final book in the series due for publication in 2011. He’s currently rewriting a 10 anniversary update of Leviathan and is working on numerous other publications. This man is a writing machine with a work ethic setting a constant budget of 2000 words a day five days a week all year. One book, one started,  columns and articles. If you want to understand how to write this is how you do it. You write! As Michael explains ghost writing is a very personal, specialised form of book editing where he, as the ghost writer, in order to write as that other person has to know them and their personality and not just edit the text that is written on the page. Michael has the wit of the storyteller and the ability to show it in this episode of Your Story of how he came to writing and ghost writing in particular but also the skills to write about his interests on his personal web site. It’s worth taking the time to read some of his interesting anecdotes and see his writing style in action Michael’s website is Your-GhostWriter.com …and his email is [email protected]   **UPDATE: 4/10/11 – Michael has just published his latests thriller The Last Book on Amazon ** I’ve also mentioned on this episode and edited part of it for my other podcast Create Your Life Story as Ghost Writing happens to be the perfect mechanism for writing a personal biography using transcripts form audio recordings. If you’re unable to write for yourself or need someone to add that critical eye over what you’ve already written it may well be worth taking the time to contact a Ghost Writer such as Michael. Your Story Ep 54 : Ken. Domestic Solar to Grid Reality Check

Today’s Episode 54 of Your Story is about looking at what we are told regarding domestic solar power generation and how viable it is as an environmental and economic alternative to base load power generation such as coal, gas, hydro, geothermal and nuclear. From a personal interest in energy and a desire to share what he knows with society in general and other members of the University of The Third Age (U3A), Ken Harrison has set about looking at the viability of solar generation and has come up with some surprising and disturbing facts relating to the viability of using grid connected domestic solar panels to augment and replace power generated by the coal fired power stations in New South Wales. Ken’s interest in managing power developed while he was responsible for strategising the energy usage of the Australian National University immediately after the first energy crisis in the 1970’s. Because of his hard work,  ideas and understanding of the use of power around the university he was able to reduce the ANU’s energy costs and consumption by elimination its usage of fuel oil in favour of electricity and by computer controlling that usage in the most cost effective and efficient manner. This hands-on understanding of energy usage in actual situations is the foundation of his interest in wanting to understand how the new system will work and how efficient it will be. To my surprise, despite what we are told, the introduction of such systems does not have any guaranteed effect on reducing carbon dioxide production and could very easily make the electricity grid unworkable if the scheme is extended to the levels envisaged by some of its proponents. The scheme will also increase the cost of power in direct proportion to the extent of its adoption. They are only a waste of money that could be used in better ways. Ken suggests that spending the same amounts of money on stand alone, off the grid domestic power generation would have the positive financial and carbon benefits that are desired If you would like to read his papers or wish to contact Ken send an email to [email protected] and I’ll pass it along to him for a reply. In summation of his paper Ken recommends the following: SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATIONS. There is no way that any of the renewable energy systems can replace our coal fired steam turbine generators. At least not, at the rate we’re gulping energy, we’ve to halt consuming thoughtlessly and take up some preventive measures. compare utilities and get to know how much you could end up saving power. There are only two options that can do this, namely gas fired steam turbine generators or nuclear powered steam turbine generators. The latter is the complete answer to carbon dioxide emissions as well as any other nasty emissions at the point of generation; however, there is some CO2 release through the mining and processing phases. Its only drawback is the very serious one of waste management. Geosequestration seems unlikely to be a solution for NSW even if it is ultimately shown to be viable. IGCC is the only developing technology that may be useful to NSW. NSW has to do something about future generation very shortly – it is possibly already beyond the critical time for planning to be complete. Since I have no expectation that any government will do the right thing I set out for your consideration what I would do if I were a dictator. Introduce a scheme to eliminate or, at least, severely reduce our wastage of electricity. This would give a breathing space of several years with reduction of emissions to levels lower than any mentioned so far at Kyoto or Copenhagen. Withdraw the present subsidy scheme on domestic photovoltaic generation and replace it with one that offers a generous subsidy for anyone prepared to go off the grid entirely i.e. a “stand alone” system. Continue with research and the introduction of renewable energy generation wherever it has some engineering viability. Build our first nuclear reactor as a matter of some urgency. Plan the longer-term close down of coal-fired plant replacing it with nuclear where alternative systems couldn’t do the job. Fund infrastructure schemes that can make good use of the skills of those who would become redundant with the demise of the coal industry. Modify the ETS to give it real power to achieve emission reduction. Scrap our existing financial system and replace it with something based on more rational considerations than the fear and greed, of an extreme minority, that characterises our present system. Introduce methods toward achieving zero population growth by 2015. K.W.Harrison March, 2010 What do you think?  Write a comment below and share your thoughts on what Ken has mentioned. Your Story Ep 53 : Fabrizio y Celi – Buenos Aires, Travelling the World Teaching Tango

Welcome To Episode 53 of Your Story. In June 2009 I had the good fortune to travel to Buenos Aires to experience all that you can in such a short time and to partake of some of the Tango Scene from the city where Argentine Tango originated. While I was there I spent some time with Tango teachers and performers Fabrizio Forti and Celi Arias in their home El Sol that is a tango studio and tourist accommodation for travellers to this city of 13 million people.  I’ve already produced several episodes of my time in Buenos Aires while I was there but lately Fab and Celi were here in Brisbane and I thought that this was a good time to talk to them about the life they have in Buenos Aires, travelling and teaching and some things about the wonderful dance that is tango and how it is different to most of the other dance forms. They were here in Australia conducting workshops and classes followed by a trip to Wellington for the new Zealand Tango Festival.  I hope to get a copy of their performance for the Kiwis to show you very soon but in the mean time here is a video from last years festival. Your Story Ep 52 : Ian. University Accommodation on a Motorbike

Welcome To Episode 51 of Your Story. Why do we have to live our life the way people and society says? Why can’t we make our own rules and if we’re happy with the results of our decisions isn’t that all that matters? Ian Pettet has decided to live an unorthodox lifestyle. Not only is he studying Electrical Engineering at Queensland University of Technology in his 50’s but he has also chosen to live on a side street to the City Gardens that adjoin the Uni sleeping on his motorbike and living with his dog out of the trailer attached to the rear of the bike, since he ride his bike a lot, and inform himself about liability for motorbike accident-related injuries in case they happen. Not what is normally thought of as student accommodation. This is the life style that Ian has chosen for the freedom that he gets from not requiring a high income and responsibilities that most of us feel that we can’t do without. Most people would find this lifestyle challenging but Ian embraces it and with happiness and joy leaving me wondering if maybe there are some lessons here about what makes some of us truly happy. Your Story Ep 51 : Earl. Security, Choices, Protection with a Gentle Touch.

Welcome To Episode 51 of Your Story. If what you know from your childhood and career is violence it would seem natural to work in a similar violent environment. That though doesn’t automatically mean that you’re destined to be violent yourself, maybe you just understand violence. Earl Morris came from a childhood surrounded with violence, then a career in the US military. An obvious career path would be to slip into the traditional forms of civilian work including protection and security work that is available through private military, police agencies and security services. Earl came from the military into this traditional career path also but what he brought with him from his life has evolved into something quite different to direct security work. In talking to Earl I discovered that  he has taken the inverse spin on his life experiences to apply them to education and understanding. To work with people to mitigate the possibility of any violence through removing the threat. This involves the different aspects of human behaviour that he has studied and has evolved into courses for companies and particularly youth groups. Now an Australian citizen and loving life in Australia with his wife and children he is using his understanding of a violent world to help others with protection against it but also to empower them so that the violence never develops in the first place. Earl has taken what he has learnt to create methods that make the world a better place. Your Story Ep 50 : Kate. Acting a Theatrical Life.

Welcome To Episode 50 of Your Story. I invited Kate Foy to come and share with us the world of a professional theatre actor and all that it means. What was the theatre industry like in the early 1970’s when the Queensland Theatre Company was just getting underway, what do you need and how hard is it to succeed in this art but also what is it like to have nearly 40 years experience in the different areas as a professional theatre actor and academic. Kate is one of those people that I meet through my interactions on twitter and other new media social platforms. Like a few, Kate has become one of my twitter friends and we’ve had many 140 character conversations with each other. What a surprise it was for me, that afterwards while doing some research in preparation for some audio recordings for the Oral History Project at Queensland Theatre Company, I discovered she has a deep involvement both as the Chair of the QTC Board but also with the theatre community in general. Kate mentions her latest passion to gather theatre professionals together in a way that hasn’t been possible in the past by establishing Greenroom. Unlike with the past physical publications, now using a web site she hopes to form a portal for people to gather and create a community around shared interests in theatre. Your Story Addendum Ep 24 : Podcast Feeds are now Fixed.

I’ve recently been having some issues over the last few months with the podcasting plugin(PodPress) that I use to post the show. Because it hasn’t been correctly updated in two years it’s been throwing up all sorts of issues lately including completely stopping the feed or sending the wrong files to iTunes. Most of the time it’s been okay if you play or download direct from the site but it’s been getting very spotting over at the other podcast catchers(iTunes). This has finally led me to have to change the plugin and that had a couple of issues in bringing the files across but I’m pleased to say that as of this morning when I look at all the files on iTunes it seems that everything is now as it’s supposed to be. Cheers The good thing about using the BlueBerry PowerPress plugin is that I can now put additional content up on the site with it’s own player and it won’t go out on the feed to iTunes. This has been something that I’ve been wanting to do for some time and I’ve resorted to doing alternative things that were not as neat as I wanted. This now means that the recent Episode 47 about Cliff which had the incorrect audio being sent to iTunes is now resolved. If you heard the unintential additional content on iTunes for Episode 47 simply do this to get the correct audio of the show. Delete – YS Ep 47 : Cliff. Food Allergies and Cancer Treatment from a Life in Science. Un-subscribe Re-subscribe Right/control Click on the header – Your Story : How We Play the Game of Life and select Update Podcast That will refresh the podcast feed instantly and the now missing Ep 47 should start downloading the correct file that was originally intended to be the episode. Sorry about these issues but I’m learning as I’m doing and it sometimes takes a while to get the knowledge to sort out these problems. Thanks to my daughter mentioning that the feed in her iTunes was not the correct file I was made aware of these issues and fix the problem. If you notice anything that is incorrect or needs improving please let me know as it sometimes takes a while for me to notice issues. Thanks in advance.

Your Story Ep 49 : Gemma. Photography, Making it Work.

Welcome To Episode 49 of Your Story. In a pub recently it was mentioned that I should sit and talk with Gemma-Rose as she has a passion for photography and has managed to make a career of what many would love to do for a living. Gemma Not only do we learn of the early days of learning photography in high school but the advantage of coming into it with a little more maturity has paid off along with working as a photojournalist and doing some of the more unpleasant aspects of the job. Now Gemma is off to Melbourne to work with St Kilda Gatehouse to enable street sex workers and substance dependent people to find a new way to express themselves and to tell their stories. Gemma has a more oblique way of looking at the world and recently undertook and explains her ongoing project, Show Us Ya Tits to show the differences of women and their worlds. Your Story Ep 48 : Tiffany. Infidelity Investigator.

Welcome To Episode 48 of Your Story. What would you do if you had suspicions of your partner having an affair? Could you confront them and have a discussion? Even then how would you know that what you were being told is the truth? What if you were told that nothing was happening but despite that reassurances you still had it eating away inside of you saying something wasn’t right? Would it be good to find out for certain one way or other, or are you just being insecure? Tiffany Bond has discovered that not only is there still a demand for infidelity investigation but business is booming as the times may change but people don’t and there is a constant stream of husbands and wives contacting her, seeking information and advice to settle their concerns and suspicion of their partner having an affair. Tiffany’s talent revealed itself when she used her training with her own relationship, leading her friends to suggest that she could help others, as she was helped, by finding the truth and slaying her own demons.  Starting her private “Private Detective Companies Near Me” business the Detection Group she has added to previous experiences to tell many more stories written about in her first book Confessions of a Female Private Investigator. The book is really a series of short stories of her adventures as a debt collector, police officer and Private investigators and the experiences that she and her clients find themselves in with suspicion, discovery and resolution of some of the more disappointing aspects of peoples relationships. It’s actually a bit of a page turner in it’s simple short format story telling style forcing me to drag myself away to get this episode published rather than while away the day indulging in the voyeurism of peoples behaviours. This is not all about the grime and the sordid underbelly of society but much like Episode 40 Grace. Prostitution – More than you Think, in that, in this story we find someone who is driven to help others to take responsibility, heal and move on by finding out the information that has been eating away at them with suspicion. It’s more than just catching people out, it’s about helping people who’s relationships have devolved and aiding them to move their relationships forward. Your Story Ep 47 : Cliff. Food Allergies and Cancer Treatment from a Life in Science

Welcome To Episode 47 of Your Story. Cliff Hawkins story is of someone who in helping his own family with food allergies discovers that he has found a mechanism to help the greater community with some of the most damaging and deadly autoimmune diseases and cancers. Only then to be financially destroyed by the greed of a large corporation when he attempted to move his discoveries to the rest of society. My local, wonderful sour dough bakery, Sol Bread recently started using an additive within some of their range that allow people with gluten intolerance to eat their bread. I immediately wondered how is this possible and what has been created that allows the bread to function during the baking process to still be as good as normal but doesn’t have the negative effects on people with these issues. As many of us know wheat, dairy, soy and peanut/legume allergies cripple millions of people around the world with ill health effects from irritation to full blown life threatening Anaphylactic Shock and long term health issues. I tracked down Cliff Hawkins of Biohawk to share with us exactly what he has developed, but I had no idea how deep this rabbit hole was to go. Cliff explains that most food allergies come from the part of the protein within the food that is designed by nature to protect it from damage so that the plant can continue to utilise it for it’s needs. This protection mechanism unfortunately for some people is the cause of food intolerance. Cliff has also been heavily studying through information from apnews.com about supplements and the role they can have in this type of research and treatment. As with 30% of the Australian population Cliff’s family, with it’s Irish heritage has a gene that reacts to these proteins in harmful ways, creating many dangerous health issues for his children and grand children. He set out 40 years ago to find a food and the relevant enzymes that would achieve the amazing task of neutralising these proteins. Using sound scientific processes gained as a medical research scientist he searched food sources dipping into knowledge known for centuries to discover within the ginger plant, specific enzymes that had the ability to cut out these dangerous proteins rending them harmless and making available all of the protein for digestion. Cliff explained to me that, within the individuals genome there are genes that when turned on, causing an immune response to these specific proteins. Simply through the use of a natural, whole food in this unique way, Cliff has developed a product that makes the protein easily digested, with better nutritional value, tastier and without any health issues. I have no idea how Cliff has managed to pull this off but he has not synthesised anything or stripped out just the reactive components insofar as creating a substance that could be defined as a medicine but uses the whole ginger food. He has some limited, simple processing which I have no idea of but the essence of his work is that his product is nothing but ginger, so falls into the safety of the Pharmacopoeia as an accepted, approved additive to any food or medicine. NB. According to the University of Maryland website, ginger has been used as a medicine in Asian, Indian and Arabic herbal traditions since ancient times. In China, ginger has been used to aid digestion and treat stomach upsets, diarrhoea and nausea for more than 2000 years. Ginger is also used by natural health practitioners to treat arthritis, colic, headaches, fever, swelling, heart conditions, the common cold and nausea associated with motion sickness, morning sickness and chemotherapy. He claims that the more serious health conditions of auto immune diseases have a basis in food allergies caused by creating a hyperimmune system that attacks various parts of the body including diseases such as Rheumatoid Arthritis, Autism, Schizophrenia, ADHD, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and many others. These Autoimmune Diseases are due to the immune system sending proteins to make the B cells that make antibodies to attack the the dangerous pathogens disproportional to the threat, meaning the immune system is overreacting. These excess proteins then go on to react with the body, creating the auto immune disease. Cliffs product has the same effect on these proteins by cutting the excess proteins out, reducing them to normal levels, then allowing the body to return to normal. That same strategy used by plants to protect their energy stores from being broken down are also used by viruses, bacterium and cancers to protect against the immune response of our bodies. These serious pathogens and cancers have a high proportion of these dangerous proteins on their surface which Cliff’s product has the effect of trimming off allowing the body to react and destroy the cells. The Ginger product simply removes their protection, so our immune system can do it’s job and destroy them and the danger. Though there is ample evidence to show the benefits of Cliffs ginger products they are sold as Aid to Digestion only and the benefits will be dependant on individual circumstances and the conditions being treated, while sometimes people also decide to use cbd products in vaping form to feel better so knowing the jeeter juice live resin price is useful to get these products. To understand better how this works from Biohawk here is an explanitary PDF. Although this is hard science it also has an element of a craft, with a passion in caring for the greater community and realising that nature, in it’s whole has many of the answers for what we need. Not only are these human health but also animal husbandry issues and like us, many farmed animals are grain fed and have many of these same health problems.  Cliff has discovered that the same health effects can be gained with animal health particularly with race horses, cattle and poultry. With animal health there are direct financial benefits to the owner of the stock justifying the use of the Animal Health range. Having received his initial training at the prestigious John Curtin School of Medical Research, Cliff  is the former Professor of Chemistry, Dean of Science and Pro-Vice-Chancellor at University of Queensland  (Biological Sciences). This is his Linedkin Profile. Cliff’s products are available online and through agents and pharmacies like discovermagazine. His main products are DigestEasy sold as a solution and Relief both sold as an aid to digestion and Bake Aid. His website is biohawk.com.au email is [email protected] To help you understand a little better Christopher’s condition, these are the PET scans mentioned that had been done at the time of our discussion. Additional Content I recorded much more detail with Cliff than I was unable to include in this episode. If you would like to go deeper into this story listen here to Cliff with the full recording. Your Story Ep 46 : Doug. C.S.Lewis, Narnia, Film Making and Christianity.

Welcome To Episode 46 of Your Story. As some of you may know I’ve recently been working for a short time on the latest in the The Chronicles of Narnia at the Warner Roadshow Studios on the Gold Coast. This next, Episode Three, is The Voyage of the Dawn Treader and as it was for the previous two episodes this one is being Executive Produced by Doug Gresham. As I mention in the introduction, I meet Doug very briefly while I was working on the film but didn’t have a chance to engage with him while working there. However my supervisor mentioned a few of the things that Doug had mentioned to him and I immediately thought, this sounds like an interesting fellow who wouldn’t mind a chat if he has the time. Doug is the step son of C.S.Lewis and is now responsible for the continuation and is the head of the C.S. Lewis Company. From that wellhead these films have sprung. After a lifetime of wanting to have them produced he is now, for want of a better title the Executive Producer but as he says, he’s the one to blame. We chat about some aspects of the challenges and the joys of film-making and if you listen to Doug you can hear his passion for film-making and particularly the production of these The Chronicle of Narnia. Quite a bit is published about Doug and his heritage with C.S. Lewis, including his autobiography Lenten Lands of his childhood with his mother Joy Davidman and Lewis which was made into the television film in ’85 Shadowlands and remade as a feature film in ’93. Doug also mentions writing a biography of Lewis Jacks Life: The Life Story of C.S. Lewis published in 2005. Doug however is not just all about C.S. Lewis and the The Chronicles Narnia, he is also a committed Non-Denominational Christian with strong opinions on his practical views of Christianity that led him to live by his faith, running and caring for people from around the world in Ireland as a psychotherapist, but also to living an independent lifestyle as a Dairy Farmer in Tasmania and an ABC Radio announcer in Perth. Now living in Malta, Doug has a world view and strong opinions on where our Western Society has gone wrong, even suggesting what, in his view, what we need to do to fix these issues. Strong, forthright and thought through opinion is what I discovered in meeting Doug Gresham and a personality that is not easily forgotten. Your Story Ep 45 : Chrissy. Mormonism, Music and Love in Australia.

This is the love story that landed Chrissy Dunaway in Australia to be with Cameron Reilly after a whirlwind romance in Ajaccio, Corsica where they meet at the International Napoleonic Congress in 2008. Their love story is a testament to the power of love and the ability of two people to overcome obstacles and challenges in the pursuit of happiness. It is a reminder that love knows no bounds, and that true love can flourish even in the most unexpected of places. While the story of Chrissy Dunaway and Cameron Reilly is primarily a tale of romance and love, it is also an example of how sexual intimacy can play a significant role in the development of a relationship. As Chrissy and Cameron’s relationship evolved over time, their physical attraction and sexual chemistry grew stronger, creating a deep and intimate connection between them. Sexual intimacy can be an important part of any romantic relationship, as it allows couples to connect on a deeper level and share a physical expression of their love and affection for one another. Whether it means exploring new sexual activities and fantasies together such as using toys like dildos that are able to shoot cum lube or many other things, or simply prioritizing physical touch and affection, sexual intimacy can help to strengthen the bond between partners and deepen their connection. Chrissy or as she is known on twitter @fddlgrl and I  talk of Love at first sight and migration from Seattle to Australia. What lead her to rebel from her upbringing in Southern Utah as a Mormon, eventually to lead her to her move to Seattle and the counter Mormon culture there. Here is a view from both inside and outside Mormonism. Not forgetting  the good in the upbringing and what she has brought with her from that. Chrissy seems to have landed on her feet in her new life in Australia as a Teacher in the Suzuki Method and performer of Violin, diving into developing a small and already thriving network of students, group classes and orchestral performances. We also briefly discuss what she has noticed in the differences between the Australian and US cultures. Your Story Ep 44 : Frank. Gourmet Cookies, Financal Crisis and the Argentine Good Life

Welcome To Episode 44 of  Your Story. Frank Almeida migrated from Chicago USA to Buenos Aires with his wife in 1999, where after a couple of business ventures left the corporate world and in time established a gourmet cookie manufacturing company Sugar and Spice. Sugar and Spice is the first and only serious Gourmet cookie manufacturer in Argentina using the best of ingredients to make the biscuits that our mother would make at home. That’s the philosophy that is still carried out in his model manufacturing facility. Frank showed me around and although a large quantity of product is produced there were people hand cutting chocolate, sifting ingredients and hand filling packaging, just like you would do at home. It’s just the quanties and machinery are larger but it’s basically an overgrown home kitchen. He currently supplies nationally, including to major corporations and is credited with starting the trend towards gourmet cookies within Argentina. Frank arrived before the financial crisis in 2001 and had to deal with the shutdown of the banking system followed by the slow recovery and improvement of the economy. It’s fascinating to think just how we would get on if the banks refused to allow us to access our money or it was suddenly devalued, this is what frank had to deal with. Frank shares what is good about the Argentine culture and how having a low standard of living and high quality of life means that he is happy to stay, to grow his business and family in Buenos Aires. Frank gave me a huge bag of goodies which I relished on the flight back home a few days later. Thanks His website is sugarandspice.com.ar Email is [email protected] Frank is another person introduced to me by Fred from Silver Star Transport in Buenos Aires that I mentioned on the last episode To automatically receive this podcast freely to you, click on one of the links to the left or search in iTunes for “Your Story.” Join the Your Story Facebook group. Your Story Ep 43 : Deby. Tango and Living as a Local in Buenos Aires

Welcome To Episode 43 of Your Story. Deby has been in Buenos Aries as a visitor and now permanently since 2000. Originally coming to Buenos Aires to surround herself in the world of tango, she sold up everything in California in 2004, relocated to Buenos Aires and is now looking forward to becoming an Argentine citizen. While falling in love with lifestyle here she has had the experiences of someone learning to understanding a new culture in order to become part of it. Now she is fully immersed into the life as a local and defends it vehemently. Deby explains how it is for a local, how when you don’t earn in another international currency and the multiplier effects of exchange rates how difficult it is to live here. She gives us a small overview of the world and industry of tango also taking us on a discovery of the cultural differences in the way men and women interact compared with her home country of the US. Several days after this recording we meet again at a milonga where we spent a few lovely hours together with friends. I look forward to returning to Buenos Aires again one day and this time with more time and experience on the dance floor I look forward to having a real tango with her. Her website is tangospam.typepad.com email is [email protected] I mentioned in this episode about the great transport and travel advice that I received from Fred at SilverStarCar.com. If you’re ever in Buenos Aires and would like to travel in comfort from the airport or around the city, consider giving Fred a call and see if the service he offers suits your needs. In case you wondered I’m receiving no kickback from Fred for this, he’s getting this plug simply because he offered me great service and it deserves to be mentioned. Your Story Ep 42 : Eric. Self Discovery, Freedom and Dr Ron Paul.

Welcome To Episode 42 of Your Story. Today we talk with Eric, a local Argentine, born and breed in Buenos Aires, about his journey and frustrations of feeling that he was independent in his thoughts on how to live a good life and how by chance he came across Dr Ron Paul during the 2007 US Republican Presidential Campaign. Discovering that his ideals and beliefs resonate with others and that there are opportunities to share these opinions. Motivated by what Dr Paul was doing Eric established a Spanish Version of the Ron Paul web site to help facilitate his message and to help expand the concepts that he lives by. Eric and I discuss how he came to develop these ideals, the importance of thinking for ones self and his motivation for the site. We also chat briefly about life in Argentina, the potential that has been missed in this once great country and the current personality of the culture, just one day before Independence Day on 9th July. Eric has asked to remain anonymous and to allow his work to speak for itself. Your Story Addendum Ep 23 : Wrapping up Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Argentine Libertarians While sitting in the airport waiting to head back to my home in Australia I thought that it was time to share my thoughts on my time in Buenos Aires, it’s time for a wrap up on my visit. So I pulled out my Zoom H4 here they are, additional to the last Your Story Addendum where I sat down with my friends to give you an overview. I also mention that I spent some time the night before with some Libertarians who mentioned  some interesting political points.  I would have loved to have recorded some of these conversations but alas it’s not possible on this trip and hopefully by staying in touch with them through some of their online systems, when I return I will have the opportunity to share some political stories and history of this once and maybe future great country.

Your Story Addendum Ep 22 : Buenos Aires. A Overview from Four Australians

Ian, Heather, Alex & Bernard Welcome To Episode 22 of Your Story Addendum. Here is something a bit different for you. I decided to sit down and have a brief discussion with a few of my friends of our appreciation of Buenos Aires, now that we have been here a few weeks and it’s time for a few of us to start heading home. What is Buenos Aires, and how do we appreciate it from an outside view, without the cultural understanding of the people who live here. We chat casually about the character of the people, the shopping, the food and how it would be for someone similar to us visiting here. We recorded this on the roof of the house that we are staying in and in amongst the conversation there is the din of the city in the back ground, the sound that is impossible to avoid and a constant curse to find somewhere quiet. Your Story Ep 41 : Mike. Buenos Aires Ranching for a US Migrant.

Welcome To Episode 41 of Your Story. Yanqui Mike, as he is known here in Buenos Aires now lives a life of duality as a migrant from the US to Argentina. From a corporate career in transport logistics in the US, living in the Mid West and Chicago, Mike has learnt and now continues his wife’s family heritage as a rancher in Argentina. Over a few beers (and many more later) we chatted about what brought him here and what keeps him living a country life on the Campo and a cosmopolitan, cafe life in the heart of Buenos Aires. His love for the people and culture and why he is happy to stay in Argentina and not to return to the United States of America. Contrasting his love for Argentina, Mike is heavily involved in the US ex-pat community having started Democrats Abroad in Argentina and takes great pride in being involved, in his small way towards the election of Barack Obama, involving the US citizens here, with the aptly named Drinking Liberally. Late Addition 13/01/2010 I’ve just found in my iTunes a file that I recorded with Mike on my iPhone after I turned my recorder off and thought that as it’s such wonderful content I’d put it up as a bonus Easter Egg. It’s only 2 minutes but worth listening to. I’m in Buenos Aires, Argentina on a trip with some friends doing Tango and having a look at the culture of this European city in South America. After several days off settling in, getting my feet and dealing with a bit of a cold(that I think I’ve thrown) I’m now able to send you this quick addendum episode about my inital reactions of arriving in Buenos Aires. I’m still getting things orginised and hopefully soon I’ll have more content out for you.

Your Story Ep 40 : Grace. Prostitution – more than You Think

Welcome To Episode 40 of Your Story. Although only 21, Grace has had a lifetime of experiences as a sex worker in the few short years since she started at only 17 years of age. As a prostitute she has worked both in brothels and independent as an escort. Now out of the sex industry and for someone of such a young age she already has and shares a fascinating and mature insight into her motivations of how the industry is for a working girl. What is amazing and wonderful in this story is how genuinely proud Grace is of her work, who she has touched and the good that she has participated in with the people she has meet through being involved in the sex industry. Both with the clients and the other girls she worked with. She has from the very beginning come into the industry as a professional wanting to be there for the work and lifestyle and not as is the cliche of being a damaged individual who resorts to compromising herself. In fact, the exact opposite. She came to the Industry from a place of surety and confidence and maintained that during her time there. She explains that the strong and negative societal prejudice against sex workers is unfair and that a great deal of good comes from the Sex Industry for the community. The Sex Industry is one of the places where a form of help and healing for many people in society is available that is unfortunately, at present, unavailable for other systems to ameliorate. If you wish to contact Grace email me and I’ll pass it on. Thank-you Grace for coming on the show and telling Your Story, you have given us  insights into an industry that many are unaware of. Your Story Ep 39 : Patty. Funeral Photography, Web Cams and Radio Personality.

Welcome To Episode 39 of Your Story. Outrageous, vivacious and exuberant(along with some off mic cussing) is what you get when you meet Patty Beecham. It’s a name I haven’t heard for years but there it is in my twitter stream. Fancy that, you can meet celebrities on twitter, well you can decide where on the A to Z celebrity line she sits. As someone who recognised her name I had to go and check out her site and see what she’s been up to all these years. That’s where I listened to her radio cross as she climbed the Story Bridge(long before the safety harnesses of bridge climb) and where I discovered her Funeral Photography and Living Wakes. Being the daughter of an Anglican Priest, Patty respectfully captures the farewell moments of a persons funeral, that in time when the grieving relatives are ready can be viewed remembering the day they said goodbye with slide shows and DVD’s. I remembered Patty from her days with Peter Dick on breakfast at 612 4QR, ABC Local Radio nearly 20 years ago. She was the roving reporter who was sent on the “interesting” assignments to give the breakfast show some entertainment, sometimes at the cost of poor Patty being the brunt of the adventures. To get a bit of a feel for the mayhem that ensured check out this archive of the breakfast show. Your Story Ep 38 : Bernard. Ballroom Champion, ’60’s Rich and Famous and Alzheimer’s Loss

Welcome To Episode 38 of Your Story. Bernard King intrigued me when I first meet him 6 months ago. I’m sure you know the type of person. They are the quiet individuals who remain discreet, don’t say a lot but have a particular grace and efficiency with movement, words and thoughts that convinces you that there is more to them than is at first obvious. Bernard is one of these people, quietly spoken but the waters run deep, but how deep? That’s the reason for asking him onto Your Story and as it proved he shares with us a life of becoming the Junior World Ballroom Dance Champion at 15 and 16 years of age. Dance was eventually left behind but not before moving into professional stage and cabaret. He tells of the life of Reilly in his youth as a qualified hairdresser living for years in Spain and Italy mixing with the European Royalty and the Glitterati  of the ’60’s. Amongst those he brushing shoulders with were  Grace Kelly and Jackie Kennedy. But not all is as wonderful as it may at first seem and there is a price to be paid both for the famous and also for him moving amongst them. In the mix of a full life Bernard happened to be held hostage not once but twice, first by The Kray Twins in his teenage years and later by The Red Brigade in Italy. Tragically later in life Bernard describes how difficult it was to lose his wife and soulmate to the slow slide of Alzheimer’s Disease. How difficult it was to care for her and how the person he loved turned into something that was not her but the illness. Despite this Bernard has a lightness about his life with positiveness for the moment. Enjoying the day as it is. Soon he and I along with a group from our tango class will be going on a 3 week trip to Buenos Aires. I look forward to what else he my tell me. Note: Bernard recently came third in the state qualifying round of the Australian Tango Championships. Seems you just can’t keep him back. Your Story Ep 37 : Tjupurru. Didjeribone, FaceBass Music and Heritage Rediscovered

Welcome To Episode 37 of Your Story. Today we talk with Adrian Fabila known professionally for his outstanding musical performances as Tjupurru. This is an episode that I wanted to produce two years ago, before the launch of Your Story, when I saw a live performance of Tjupurru at the Brisbane Power House. Tjupurru plays a distinctive modern version of the traditional Didjeridu(Didjeribone) blended with the sounds of the FaceBass, distorted and looped through electronics and punched out in a style that would make any party or stadium rock. The sound is unique, organic and ever evolving with every performance different to all others due to the improvisation constantly evolving the sounds as they develop. Tjupurru’s relationship as an audio engineer with Charlie McMahon of Gondwanaland fame led him to use both the Didjerbone and FaceBass, (both invented by Charlie) and now his involvement with the development, production and marketing of the Didjeribone around the world  promoting it through his performances. Including a performance on KCRW Radio in Santa Monica in April of 2008. The Didjeribone is a unique instrument developed from an ancient instrument using the best of modern manufacturing and available around the world. If your interested in purchasing one, contact  Didjeribone it’s only $160 delivered anywhere. (I’m saving up to buy mine.) Your Story Ep 36 : Chris. The Artist Life.

Welcome To Episode 36 of Your Story. Today we talk with Chris Booth artist and maker of things. Chris is now starting to have real success in the art scene in Australia after years of being a struggling artist. We discuss the artist life, how difficult it is to make a success in the art world and the compromises that are made to get to that success. Chris mentions how Metro Gallery in Melbourne have given him a leg up, supporting him with a regular retainer income so he can concentrate on making the art rather than having to compromise his passion to find the income for his basic human needs. Chris has developed a new and different type of painting art-form utilising his making skills to build multiple layers of board sitting proud of the backing to create a real depth of field causing the image to lift from the canvas. This blending with his pop/anime style using clean precise lines create these elegant images that he is becoming known for. To have a look at some of his work go to Metro Gallery, and another Metro page and Art Net. His website is still coming… email is [email protected] As mentioned on the show the Lapel Microphones used on this episode are from Giant Squid Audio.
