$0.65 cents and Three Paid Holidays

As Revolutionary Baddies wind down Season 2, they bring to life an old story of ordinary people doing revolutionary things. The story of Local 22 in Winston-Salem is a story of Black working class power and unapologetic spirit to fight and demand better conditions, pay, and respect. The 1960s Civil Rights Movement tends to receive all of the glory, but the 1930s- 1940s struggle across the Black working class built the foundation for those movements. North Carolina is home to some of the largest and most influential historical resistance movements. Local 22 is one of those moments, led by Black women that believed in maintaining their dignity, organizing class solidarity, and growth.
