John Dene arrives in England with an ingenious invention and a mission to shake up the Admiralty. His bluntness and unorthodox approach leave the officials at Whitehall bewildered and uncomfortable, especially as he criticizes the entrenched bureaucrats who, in his eyes, owe their positions to ancestral connections rather than merit.
