003 The Least Helpful Emotion of Them All...

from Busy Woman's Guide to Wellbeing

Have you ever felt guilty for eating chocolate cake, or for not doing the workout that you'd planned? If the answer is yes, then you are definitely not alone. The concept of guilt around exercise and diet is one of the most common emotions. Why do we feel guilty, and how can we stop feeling it in relation to our fitness and wellness? That's what we're going to be exploring in today's episode. What We Cover: - The root of feeling guilty around exercise and diet - How guilt can lead us to unproductive behaviors - Why the feeling of guilt is not appropriate to fitness and wellness - Will clean eating and rigorous discipline make you a better person? - What is orthorexia and why it’s considered a disordered behavior - Questions to ask yourself next time when you feel guilty around your diet and fitness regime - How to adopt a more inquisitive mindset and do something different next time Guilt can lead us down the route of wallowing in it, feeling bad and ending up skipping all of your workouts for the week, and going for it all weekend on a massive binge. But that is not a particularly helpful way to be thinking. By asking yourself how you could do something different next time, and taking a positive for that experience, it can make a huge difference.
