004 How do you talk to yourself?

from Mental Pause Podcast · host Tracey

Welcome to the Mental.Pause podcast, today I am talking with you about how our body listens to what we say even when we aren't truly "speaking."  I was faced with a situation that triggered a feeling of being not enough; the feeling was related to my work and an action asked of colleagues to whom felt anxious and questioned the "why" to the activities with concern.  Even though I had taken the time to review in detail and open up for question the WHY, HOW and WHAT (that in the moment answered all their questions).  The emails I received and the questions and skepticism to the request led me down a path taking the essence of the messages personally, I felt a weight on my shoulders that was a familiar feeling to me of "I did something wrong",  "what could I have done better", "I am not good enough" and the words and questions continued...How many of you carry a similar weight every day?  IT IS TIME TO LET GO OF OUR SELF SPEAK!As I dug into the feelings, I was able to move away from the trigger and have an awareness that the situation wasn't about me at all!  It was about the individuals, they had their own triggers fears around the interpretation of the ask.  I believe we all tend to go to the worst case scenario as opposed to taking the time to understand the emotion that is being generated and why we feel the way we do.  A great opportunity to take a Mental.Pause moment and create awareness and understanding of what is happening.   At this moment, stepping out of the situation and working to understand why we are feeling agitated, anxious or just frustrated will guide our ability to let go of the unhealthy state we put ourselves into.  For myself, if I didn't pause and dig in, my day would have been a spiral of frustration in meetings, I wouldn't have been present in the moment for many of my interactions and my productivity would have been meh. Why, because I was too busy being agitated, angry or frustrated from the one situation and everything else would just pile on, until the breaking point; whenever that may be.  The only person that can change the perspective and shift the feelings you are holding onto is YOU!  Does this statement frustrate you or give you anxiety?  Let me know, I would be happy to coach, guide or share with you to some tools to shift the mindful process of being in control of what you can shift or change and that's YOU.Check out my Instagram and follow for more opportunities to share and grow as a Mental.Pause Community!  https://instagram.com/mental.pauseThanks again for listening!  Until next time.
