0044: more than i can chew
from looking into people's windows - a sound collage by nate schmold
Wow. It's a tall order to write something fresh and new every day lemme tell ya. Today i was wrestling with some email bs in addition to prepping + practicing for the play (The Children) I've done the sound design for (and will be performing live next week!). I started this podcast as a way to put a lot of my ambient work but i think if the past couple days have shown anything, its probably a silly idea for me to keep it ambient only. there will be days where i might play guitar, days where i might just sing into a mic, and days, like today, where im just gonna drop a rough-ass beat. I hope thats ok!I figure theres enough "chill" episodes of the podcast you can always skip this one and return to an old fav (heres mine) if this isnt your style, but i think in order for me to keep up with the daily flow, i gotta just reduce the friction entirely and just drop whatever it is i happen to be into at the time. written with Maschinelooking into people’s windows is an abstract audio podcast devoted to exploring minuscule moments, fragments of a story and frozen vignettes told through sound. Imagine strolling through a busy neighbourhood at night. Mysterious lives spill out from windows as muted light filters through rippling curtains. TV screens flicker and project misshapen shadows across unfamiliar walls. Celebrations and obligations keep focus sharp behind the glass as indiscernible silhouettes dance to a silent rhythm. These sound fragments attempt to capture the memories of these human moments before they are lost to the next day’s hustle.
