#0051 - Nick Afoa

Nick Afoa is a singer, performer, and a former rugby union player. He is best known for his performances playing the lead role of Simba in the Lion King Musical in Australia, London and most recently the New Zealand tour. He is also a co-host on the ‘Tapu Two” podcast, a podcast focused around real, straight up koreros around life. In this podcast, we dived into Nick’s journey through rugby, the Lion King, the Tapu Two, and life in general. In this talanoa we navigated: Reconnecting with culture The positives and negatives of social media Nutrition Mental and emotional well being Discovering identity How to embrace vulnerability And lots more (definitely a few laughs along the way) What I loved most about this talanoa, was the honesty and vulnerability on both sides of the conversation, which is how this podcast originally started. The idea that conversations are valuable, as is the ability to go deeper beneath the surface and have genuine yarns.
