008 - Marvin Okello

Sorry for the wait, but after a couple weeks away, i'm back! On today's episode we are fortunate to be in the company of Marvin Okello, ticket sales manager and diversity & Inclusion officer for the Halifax Wanderers of the Canadian Premier League. We randomly catch up to talk about the Wanderers staff behind the scenes and the value of community engagement. Marvin continues his conversation on the Down The Pub Podcast about spearheading inclusion and diversity league wide. We talk about a whole lot of legends from our time playing in the Nova Scotia Soccer League over the years. Marvin talks about his career and how our mutual connections are plentiful. We continue the soccer talk as we talk about the culture shocks happening right now at Arsenal and Barcelona, and we finish the conversation touching on the disgusting cowardice of racist fans in the Jordyn Huitema/Alphonso Davies situation, and he gives us his thoughts on how to maneuver trolls online. I encourage everyone to check out Marvins chats on the Down The Pub Podcast - also keep an eye out for some developing community projects from Marvin & the Wanderers in 2021 and beyond!
