01 Start Me Up - From Humble Beginnings to New Beginnings

Welcome to the first episode of Her Money Matters. The title, 'From humble beginnings to new beginnings' outlines that I didn't grow up with money and I certainly didn't learn about it at home or at school, but through a life changing sliding doors moment, I was presented an opportunity to learn about money - one that changed my life forever.  In this episode, I share what this podcast is all about and what you can expect from each episode. I also talk through my own money story in three parts: the lessons I learned growing up and from my upbringing, the formal education I’ve invested in, and the personal experiences that shaped how I’ve applied the financial knowledge I have learnt. I finish with why I started Her Money Matters as I think it is important to in this inaugural episode to outline how the many different parts of my life have led me to this place where I genuinely want to make a meaningful difference in the financial lives of women. This is the start of something that matters deeply to me, and I’m so glad to have you here from the very beginning.
