01 // Welcome to the Firmly Planted Podcast & My Story

from Firmly Planted | Restore Peace through Biblical Meditation & Yoga as a Midlife Mom · host Laurie Hugdahl - Christian Yoga Teacher, Holistic Health Coach

If you’re craving more peace but your mind feels busy and your body feels tight, this episode will help you exhale. In this very first episode, I share the heart behind the podcast and what you can expect from each guided practice—so you know you’re in a safe, gentle, Christ-centered space. This show is for the woman who loves Jesus, but struggles to feel His peace in the middle of stress, anxiety, grief, or overwhelm. Instead of long lectures, you’ll find short, practical practices you can experience—right where you are. In this episode, you’ll hear: My personal story of discovering breathwork, meditation, and yoga in a season of heaviness and how God met me there on the mat. Why this podcast focuses on experiencing God (through breath, movement, and rest) instead of just talking about Him. What “praying in motion” means and how combining biblical spirituality, deep breathing, and gentle movement helped lift me out of grief and depression in a safe, gradual way. How our bodies often carry stress, trauma, and emotions we don’t have words for—and why nervous-system calming practices matter for your spiritual life. The kinds of episodes you can expect: breath prayers short meditations gentle movement + stretching simple walking practices restorative wind-downs and faith-based yoga nidra Why everything is offered with options: chair or mat, “you can skip this,” slower pacing, and trauma-sensitive, beginner-friendly language—no pressure, no perfection. A quick overview of my training (YogaFaith, 12-step/recovery yoga, meditation, yoga nidra, pranayama, restorative and yin, trauma-sensitive work, and more) and my heart to help women meet God in a grounded, gentle, real way. This episode is especially for you if: You feel anxious, overwhelmed, or “on” all the time—even when you’re praying. You’re walking through grief, stress, or burnout and need something simple you can do right now. You feel disconnected from your body, or notice tension in your shoulders, jaw, or chest. You want a Christ-centered space to calm your nervous system and rest in God’s presence for a few minutes at a time. You're desperate for better sleep and a quiet mind.
