01: Who is There for You?

from Sincerely, 2 Imperfect Therapists · host Sincerely, 2 Imperfect Therapists

Finding your place in this world can be overwhelming. In our first episode, join us as we discuss finding community and just how vital it is. We know firsthand just how hard it is to feel connected to the world around us when we are facing very real challenges, crises, and barriers. We get real about the struggles of connection in today's modern world, particularly within the mental health community.  This first episode about connection and community kicks off our podcast hitting on the core reason behind creating this podcast, to begin with. We wish to create a space where curious folks, emerging therapists, and seasoned clinicians all can find a sense of community that supports them through the challenges they face in and out of the therapy room.   So, grab a cup of coffee or tea and settle into this week's discussion.  Show Highlights: We reflect on how we met and how our connection developed. We discuss the impacts of lacking community and connection. How do we begin to identify our community? We discuss looking inward to find our compass for connection and community. Where to look for our community when it isn't clearly around us? Developing authentic connections by naming our experiences. Finding surprising connections through the healing journey. We reflect on personal choice, accountability, and the challenges of finding community within systems of oppression. Building community takes time. We discuss how connection and community can propel us forward.
