#011 - How AI is Quietly Revolutionising Your Next Doctor's Visit with Irrum Afzal

Irrum Afzal is a MICR, MRQA and MPH qualified, Imperial College London graduate, with over five years orthopaedic, clinical research experience and management experience. Irrum also holds a Postgraduate Diploma (PgDip) in Sustainability Studies and has completed both the PRINCE2 Practitioner and Foundation exams. Irrum played a leading role in the development of the GIRFT and SWLEOC Elective Hub Toolkit. The purpose of this toolkit is to show aspiring surgical hubs a detailed study of processes, job roles and patient pathways within a well-established elective orthopaedic hub (https://girft-hubtoolkit.org.uk/). Irrum has comprehensive knowledge of quantitative, qualitative, mixed method research and statistics in line with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Institute of Clinical Research and Research Quality Association guidelines. Irrum has extensive knowledge of clinical outcomes and patient reported outcome measures with a particular interest in orthopaedics. Irrum has published in various peer-reviewed journals and often presents at national and international meetings. Irrum is co-director of the London Research course and is also a professional member of the Health Research Authority Research Ethics Committee attending regular meetings actively giving her opinion and guidance on research ethics. She is an active member of the British Orthopaedic Association, National Orthopaedic Alliance, British Hip Society and the British Orthopaedic Sports Trauma and Arthroscopy Association. Outside of clinical research, Irrum plays an active role in the Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation and the Imperial College London Alumni Service.
