012: True Meaning of the Season

While I know that everyone is excited about Christmas and the celebration of Jesus' birth, which is fine, but have you ever stopped to think about real meaning of this season?  In all of the gift giving and decorating, I think that people often lose sight of the real reason Jesus came to this earth. It wasn't so that we could go out and spend thousands of dollars buying gifts to put under a tree. It was much bigger than that. The Bible says. " But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8.  I love a Christmas carol as much as the next person, but that isn't why I am a Christian. I am a Christian, because God loved me and you so much that He sent His son to die a cruel death for sins that he did not commit so that you and I might be saved. That my friends, is the reason for this season! Please remember, while you're out and about what the true message of Christ is, it is the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ that is our hope and gives us the opportunity of salvation.
