#017 - Getting through the Pain with Emma Christensen who Lost Her 6 yr old Suddenly

from Finding Joy in the Hard · host Suzanne Andora Barron

In this episode, I chat with Emma Christensen, who lost her beautiful six and half year old son, Jonah, suddenly in December 2007. Emma shares how helping others - including building a school in Africa - distracted her and her family from their immense pain. With her husband, and their daughter, they have created annual magic show fundraiser celebrations around Jonah’s birthday, June 19th to “celebrate the child in all of us” and continue the incredible impact Jonah’s short life had on so many people. Emma shares that it's all about celebrating the joy of youth, the importance of living in the moment and having fun. They have done “magical evening” fundraisers for children’s charities, written a children’s book, Sock Wars, celebrating play, and provide an annual scholarship to high school students heading out into the world.Emma  and I first met in an online support group for grieving moms in 2007.  She was  a large part of my healing.
