018 - The Mental Load in Home Creation

from Modern Homemaking I Mindset and Methods for Happier, Healthier Homes

Today, I talk about The Mental Load. This is the first episode in a multi-part series talking about the different things that can contribute to overwhelm in our homes and with our home creation. In this episode, we look at what the mental load is, how is contributes to feelings of overwhelm and what we can do to try to manage the mental in our homes and with our home creation. Here’s a recap: The mental load is a term for the invisible labor that goes in the management of household and home and family, which typically falls to women. It is not just the physical tasks in the house, but rather the thinking and overseeing of those physical tasks. The mental load is the real deal and has real effects on home, our home creation and our lives. When the mental load starts to be too much it leads to frustration, burn out, stress, overwhelm, and anxiousness. And can result in feelings of apathy, anger, resentment and a real disconnection in relationships. The Holistic Home Method and the Five Foundations of Home are designed to help support us in managing the mental load in our home creation. We can do that by looking at our mindset & motivation, decluttering, developing plans & routines, decorating in a way that brings function and beauty, and living within natural rhythms and cycles. In the Holistic Home Method and the Five Foundations of Home look at how we can shift our mindset, motivation and methods to support the mental load.  Working together might be the support you need in managing the mental load in you home and with your home creation.   Please reach out if you would like to talk about the possibility of working together in creating a happier and healthier home with more success, fulfillment and joy.   WORK WITH ME: Book a FREE discovery call HERE.
