#019: Beneath These Streets (S03E01 1987)

TMNT Shellcast digs deep into review of “Beneath These Streets” from season 3 episode 1 of the 1987 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. In the episode, Splinter scolds the Turtles for slacking off on their martial arts training and assigns them double the exercises. Meanwhile, Krang and Shredder work to repair the Protein Silicon Brain using a stolen Medi-Laser, leading to a battle with Splinter and the Turtles. After Splinter is injured and comatose, the Turtles vow to find Shredder and eventually retrieve the stolen Medi-Laser, ultimately using it to save Splinter's life. Andrew kicks off season 3 with anchovy pizza AND a bonus slice (00:01:30) before Chris and Jon join to Select Your Bets: Season 3 (00:09:41). Jon builds nearly 30 minutes of anticipation for the episode recap (00:29:32) before tee-ing things up for Buy or Sell: Movie Theater Concessions (00:44:33). Chris makes his best case for Bebop & Rocksteady to leapfrog Shredder in the Villain Power Ranking (02:00:53), but he is vetoed. Andrew recites the Turtlism catchphrases (02:09:50) and Chris messes up the Twitter Poll Results (02:15:10) and loses the Shellcast spin-off, justly (02:18:26), sending him to spin his punishment on the Pizza Time! Wheel (02:18:36). Jon closes out the podcast episode with the Twitter Poll Question: What condiment is 100% in someone’s fridge, but rarely used? (02:21:56).
