019 - Let's Talk About the Attack on DEI
from Both And - A Multiracial Podcast Hosted by Both And
In this episode, Leila and Beth discuss the impact of the national rollback of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives on marginalized communities, particularly the multiracial population. We explore the importance of DEI in creating inclusive workplaces, share personal experiences related to accessibility, and examine the consequences of recent policy changes. And Will is back as our guest and legal mastermind! Will is a labor and employment attorney, who provides a legal perspective on DEI policies and the challenges companies face in navigating these changes. Despite national rollbacks, many major companies continue to lead with purpose and stand firm in their commitment to DEI. Since we didn't have a chance to spotlight those companies on the episode, here is a quick rundown to jump start your search for corporations across sectors that are doubling down on DEI initiatives 🧠 Highlights Include: Tech & Finance: Apple, Microsoft, and JPMorgan Chase are tying innovation and community investment directly to DEI. Retail & Consumer Brands: Costco, e.l.f. Beauty, and Ben & Jerry’s maintain strong inclusive programs and transparent strategies. Airlines & Apparel: Delta, Southwest, and Patagonia remain vocal in supporting equity, both internally and externally. Everyday Grocers: From Kroger and Trader Joe’s to Hannaford and Sprouts, many regional and national stores continue to integrate DEI into their culture and operations.
