019 - The Shoulds in Home Creation

from Modern Homemaking I Mindset and Methods for Happier, Healthier Homes

Today, I talk about The Shoulds. This is the second episode in a multi-part series talking about the different things that can contribute to overwhelm in our homes and with our home creation. In this episode, we look at all those shoulds in our lives and homes, how they contribute to feelings of overwhelm and what we can do to address all those shoulds. Here’s a recap:       The “should” are all about the standards, rules, or expectations that we set for ourselves and others. These are beliefs about how things should be, how people should behave, or how we should feel. And when these standards or “shoulds” are not met, it can lead to feeling of guilt, shame and frustration. The stress, guilt, shame and frustration that we feel is often a result of the tension between what is and what we believe should be - all those “should” that dictates the way we think, act and feel. Science tells us, that we have the power to change the way we think and to leave all those “should” behind. We can say goodbye to unrealistic expectations and stop “shoulding” on our selves by looking at them through three different beliefs areas: Achievement, social and control. The Holistic Home Method and the Five Foundations of Home are designed to help support us in managing the shoulds in our home creation. We dive deeper into these topics and more in the First Foundation of Home – Mindset & Motivation. Working together might be the support you need in navigating some of these should. Together we can look at how we can let go of shoulding on ourselves, and get into creating more success, fulfillment and joy in your homes and with your home creation.   Please reach out if you would like to talk about the possibility of working together in creating a happier and healthier home with more success, fulfillment and joy.   WORK WITH ME: Book a FREE discovery call HERE.
