for episode 89, the initial plan was to focus on decorated archival label Light In The Car Sick’s dogged efforts to assemble a box set containing the entire Mutha Records oeuvre. Months of interviews and post-production went down the toilet, however, when this program’s rights clearance department — currently on a losing streak to rival that of the 2010-2011 Cleveland Cavaliers —neglected to obtain permission for the use of Brunfuss’ “Spandex Rock”. It seems the Bobby Ebz estate will only allow the use of an excerpt of the song and if you know me, I’m a perfectionist when it comes to these things.All of that said, I’m deeply proud of what I managed to slap together in-between calls from the rights clearance dept. threatening self harm.
