Étienne, 37 ans, revient sur le cancer du testicule qui a bouleversé sa vie à la fin de 2019, en pleine période des fêtes. Parti d’un mal de dos persistant, le diagnostic révèle une tumeur abdominale importante. S’ensuivent chimiothérapies, chirurgie, puis une récidive qui le conduit à subir deux autogreffes et plusieurs semaines en chambre stérile, en plein cœur de la pandémie de COVID-19. Il raconte l’attente, l’ennui, les effets secondaires parfois déroutants, l’isolement sans visites, mais aussi les élans d’humour qui l’aident à tenir. Au fil de son récit, on découvre la place essentielle de sa conjointe, la solidarité de ses amis, et la confiance qu’il choisit d’accorder à l’équipe médicale et aux protocoles de traitement.
