In this episode I interview Lia Lamela. She is not just a woman in construction, she is actually in the trades and loves her growing career as an electrician! Lia is a survivor of domestic violence. When she separated herself from that situation, she lost everything. She only had her car, her pets... she did not even have a career or source of income that she could rely on. This was the type of situation that keep many women afraid to escape their own abusive relationships.At this time she sought an opportunity in the trades. She tells us her triumphant story, going to trades school while living in a woman's home, working through an expedited apprenticeship, getting her license.... all on her road to personal freedom.Lia also shares her views on being a woman in a male dominated industry. The good, the bad, and the ugly.
