#022: Are Humans Undergoing Spontaneous Evolution?

from The Elderllama Podcast · host Erick G. Amezcua

Could humans be undergoing spontaneous evolution? Spontaneous evolution is the idea coined by Bruce Lipton that organisms can rapidly adapt to shifts in the environment through epigenetic changes. Essentially, environmental signals affect what portions of DNA are available for transcription and thus what genes are expressed in the organism. One could see how this could prove a powerful ability during times of great environmental change. Do such times sound familiar? We humans have been exposed to a totally different environment in the past century. We are being bombarded with totally novel environmental cues. Historically speaking, the time is ripe for rapid evolution via epigenetics. This idea seemed far out to me until I learned something that displayed it in a different light, which I share in this episode. See you inside.
