Today, I talk about the psychology of home and understanding how our physical environment affects our wellbeing and overall mental health.  In this episode, we look at some different psychological aspects of home. How our homes impacts our health and contribute to our healing. And I share some tips to get started creating a home that supports our wellbeing.  Here’s a recap: The psychology of home explores how our physical environment affects our well-being, behavior, emotions, and overall mental health. Some different psychological aspects of home include: safety, identity, control, relationships, attachment and emotional wellbeing.   Understanding the different psychological aspects of home help us with our home creation.  Often when we think about psychology and mental health, we also think of healing.  Our homes can be spaces of healing and we can experience healing through our home creation.   Three ways we can get started with creating a home that is to (1) start with decluttering, (2) create a special space in your home and (3)  incorporate personal touches in your home.  The Holistic Home Method and the Five Foundations of Home are designed to support you in creating home with these psychological aspects in mind and prioritizing your wellbeing in the context of your home creation. We look at our mindset & motivation, decluttering, developing plans & routines, decorating in a way that brings function, beauty and support, and living within natural rhythms and cycles.
