We will not allow —  ever — a transgender born a man to fight a woman, who was born a  woman,” he stated firmly.’ The  new rules follow controversies over transgender athletes in other  sports, most notably record-breaking US swimmer Lia Thomas. And  in Mixed Martial Arts, where in September last year, former male US  Special Forces combatant, now a woman - Alana McLaughlin choked her  female opponent into submission.
