03 - Buying Local

While it's true that I enjoy the convenience, efficiency and cost effectiveness of buying the things I need and want online, I am still inclined to spend money with local businesses. I feel especially compelled to do this when that business offers a valuable service or specific knowledge and expertise that they share as part of the purchase process. In this case, I specifically talk about recently purchasing new tires for my mountain bike and my preference to buy them at my local bike shop, Eau Claire Bike & Sport. I know, I know… It's not like I spent a fortune more to buy local, and I am not claiming to be any kind of local economic hero. But I'd rather spend my bike money at Terry's shop than online when I can.
