#03 - Katherine Vaughan: Bartender, Knotty Barrel

Katherine Vaughan is a bartender/manager at a brewery in downtown San Diego named Knotty Barrel, who has over 14 years of restaurant experience in front and back of house. This episode is an honest look into how two bartenders decompress after a long week of work. Two people, having a few drinks, talking shit about the good, the bad, and the ugly of what we do for a living. We talk about her journey as a musician and how we both express ourselves artistically, what it was like for Katherine growing up homeschooled, having empathy for customers, and dating within the bar industry. How do we not become the negative stereotypes that are associated with working in bars? As Katherine is a member of the LGBTQ+ community, we discus some of the sensitivities of today’s culture around language and speech.
