Braxton speaks with Elliott Kronenfeld, LICSW, CST about his work with couples. Elliott discusses couples by default versus couples by intention. Frequently couples find themselves wondering why they are in a relationship or why they are feeling stuck in boring pattern. Many turn to sex and love to be the "glue" in their relationship. While those two aspects in a relationship are important Elliott offers options for couples that want to build their relationship to last and are looking for the strengthening bond to help their relationship go the distance. In his book "couples by intention" Elliott explores a 2 column exercise couples can use. He speaks about strategic relationships and curiosity, speaking from "I" in communication, and how "Intimacy is the Balance of Safety and vulnerability." Braxton learns about "The no helping rule" which helps couples improve their avoidance of assumptions and damaging expectations.
