031: Stuff Happens. Get Over It!

from 1minutetips · host Rod Gomes

Welcome to 1 Minute Tips! We cannot control most of the circumstances in our lives. But we can, and should, control the way we react to it. We all face bad situations, problems and challenges. It’s all part of the deal of being alive. How we react when facing such moments is what really counts. We know it’s impossible to live inside some sort of protective layer, that isolates us from our problems. We instinctively try to create such a bubble, only to find out that it doesn’t work. We tend to immediately react bad when faced with an unpleasant situation. Becoming the helpless victim. We are all subject to face the loss of a loved one, unemployment, the end of a relationship. It is what it is. Just accept and embrace the situation. Analyze whether you can do something to change it, or not. If you can, and want to, then by all means go and do it. If you can’t, that’s when we usually go nuts and start blaming everyone and everything. If you can’t change a thing, why should you keep stressing over it? You shouldn’t, but you do it because you are not accepting the situation. Once you accept it, then you can react accordingly and organize your thoughts, your options. Try this, when find yourself about to react out of impulse, without thinking. Stop, don’t say anything, don’t do anything. Think first. I'm Rod Gomes and I'll come back with another 1 minute tip soon. Take care, stay active, stay positive!
