031220: It's OK to be sad about sports right now

from Redeemer Radio 95.7 Sports · host Angelo Di Carlo

I’ve loved sports since before I can remember. When I was 4-years-old, I was copying the standings from the newspaper, writing them down and running up the stairs waking up my brother and reading off the standings to him. It’s been something I’ve been incredibly passionate about. March Madness is my favorite time of the year. I love the NCAA Tournament and I love the high school basketball tournament. These weeks are incredible. And now---the coronavirus is taking that all away. I’m not here to debate whether it is the right decision or not. I leave that to the experts to decide. I’m just here to say that for the high school seniors who won’t get the same experience their peers of years ago received, it really stinks for them. The most important thing is the safety of everyone—absolutely-- but that doesn’t mean us sports fans can’t be sad over everything that has happened. I’m sad and I had to talk about it. Thankfully the IHSAA regionals will continue. Fans won’t be in the stands but the basketball playoffs will get to play the games. We will be broadcast Saturday’s 3A Regional semifinal between Marian and Hanover Central on 95.7FM, redeemerradio.com and on the Redeemer Radio App. Some things in this podcast will be dated by the time you listen to it but the general message remains the same.
