032 - Merry and Pippin Survive Isengard in "Flotsam and Jetsam"
from Fool of a Took Podcast · host Fool of a Took Podcast
This week we discuss book 3, chapter 9, "Flotsam and Jetsam", from The Two Towers. Today's "Food For Thought": Pippin's Power PicnicWe finally have a meal in the chapter!! Here is my recreation (surprisingly accurate) of the lunch Pippin prepared for Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli.-Several slices of toast-Butter-Honey-Some slices of cooked bacon-Cubed and fried salt porkEven though I rinsed the salt pork before cooking it, it was insanely salty. I think you can soak it for a bit to get even more salt off. To be honest, it belongs in a soup or baked beans rather than eaten by itself, but here we are. The toast with butter, honey, and a slice of bacon was heavenly though!----------------------------------------------------Welcome to the Fool of a Took Podcast — the show where deep lore meets even deeper nonsense! Here's the catch - 2 of the 4 hosts have never read the books before! Join Chris, RJ, Pat and Laura as they dive headfirst into the world of Tolkien. With chapter snacks, fresh grog, and plenty of tongue wagging, Fool of a Took Podcast is like sitting in a pub in Bree, if everyone in the pub had ADHD and a microphone.
