from People of Portland and Beyond · host People Of Portland and Beyond Podcast

Curtis uses a style that was based on art in the 20s and 30s, which is reemerging. It is like the xbox game, cuphead as well as Mighty Mouse. We talk about the best new animators and cartoons, like Steven Universe and Adventure Time. He works on a pro tablet and like to use Adobe Illustrator. He does vector artwork, not pixel art. Vector is mathematical art. You are able to scale it to any size you want. This is very important for creating logos, as they can then use it on a billboard, or business card. He does fine shading on the tablet, but doesn't find it replaces sketching on paper at all. It is harder to make a straight line on a tablet, and easier on paper. He will sketch by hand and then import the image.
