037. Parenting Kids With Aggression, Simple Tools For Everyday Struggles - Tosha Schore
from The Joel Evan Show · host Joel Evan
Tosha Schore is the author of the hit book Listen: 5 Simple Tools to Meet Your Everday Parenting Struggles and the creator of the course Out With Aggression which has revolutionized the way I parent my two boys. Tosha has successfully raise three boys who suffered from aggression issues and now is teaching her methodologies all over the world. I discovered Tosha after taking her course, as I too was struggling with parenting two young boys, one who was extremely aggressive towards me: hitting and kicking me, spitting at me, yelling and screaming. I had read many popular books on child psychology, attended seminars, and enrolled in child-parent therapy without seeing any real change. After taking Tosha's six week course, I started noticing immediate changes in my relationship with my boys. Finally the momentum has shifted in our family and we are really making some strides. I'm so happy to have her on the podcast to help inspire and share some crunchy nuggets that are going to help others that are struggling with this same thing.Timeline10:50 - What are most parents getting wrong when it comes to parenting14:50 - Should physical force and consequences be used to discipline kids?21:50 - Fear = Aggression23:20 - What do you do after you’ve set limits with your child and they flat out disrespect and tell you they are not going to comply?29:10 - Why infusing connection is the answer even if it doesn’t feel right32:50 - Why using humor to battle aggression is so effective41:30 - You let your kid call you a “retarded pussy” and you let him get away with it - why?48:30 - How do parents stop their own triggers (especially when you have no patience)?
