The Forgotten Rules of Prayer K.C. Hairston At a little church in a small town called Mulga, Alabama, the power of prayer is revealed as the church's pastor (Reverend Hicks) uses stories from his life and the small town to paint a clear picture of the workings of God. The basis on which God chooses to answer our prayers is a question that man simply cannot answer. However, by searching through the Bible and uncovering God's instructions for prayer, we can maximize the likelihood that our prayers will be answered in the future. The exact manner in which prayer works is a secret, and that secret has not yet been revealed to us on earth. According to Deuteronomy 29:29, "The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law." In light of Deuteronomy 29:29, Reverend Hicks uses the Forgotten Rules of Prayer book, which combines all of the cherished "revealed" rules on prayer and presents them in a format that can be passed down, as wa The Extra In The Ordinary Erica Boerman Here we celebrate the little "extras" in our ordinary lives. And really, nothing about living out our lives under the authority of the Word of God and in the power of the Spirit is ordinary. It is extraordinary. However, sometimes amidst the diapers, FAFSA applications, driving lessons, tadpole catching, laundry, and general every day life, we don't pause to see the little extra something. It's the twinkle in your kid's eye as he shows you what he made in art that week. It's the silent tear that you barely catch a glimpse of when she walks through the door. It's the never-ending bedtime questions that might be a stall tactic - or it just might be the moment he knows he has your undivided attention for the first time that day. That's the extra. That's what makes the ordinary stand at attention. It's what makes us say, "Thank you, Lord, I almost missed this." Truth Encounter: The Last Week - Rejected in Jerusalem Podcast After hard frosts and heavy snows, finally March Madness begins. It brings not only the best show in basketball, but Easter lilies in Wal-Mart and beautiful new dresses on racks for moms to buy for their little girls. It’s the triumph of warmth over cold, of tulip blossoms over ugly bulbs, but most of all it’s the time when more than 2 billion Christians across the globe look back to the events of Passion Week, the Last Week, the time when Jesus was rejected in Jerusalem. . His Last Week on earth began with shouts, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!” It ended with “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” How could this week in a land hardly the size of New Jersey where a peasant was crucified like thousands of other Jews by the Romans be the climax of all of history?
