Spring of 1803, after the United States acquired the Louisiana Territory, two men set out with a crew of roughly 33 men to see what the country had purchased.  Meriwether Lewis and William Clark would captain a group of hunters, trappers, and would be mountain men on this journey. In the first part of our series on the expedition the party prepare and finally depart on an adventure of a lifetime, across undocumented lands, on a mission from the President himself.
