040. 2020 AgEmerge Podcast -Larry Kandarian

from Ag Emerge Podcast · host Hosted by Monte Bottens

There's great work being done, building a new ag paradigm and we'll be talking about all of that work at our 2021 AgEmerge Event. Save the date, January 6th, 2021. Stay tuned as we will have more information on all the details and speakers joining us for this great event. Go to www.agemerge.com and subscribe to receive event information updates. Today Larry Kandarian of Kandarian Organic Farms joins us as we have a great conversation about the soil and plant management practices that Larry has adopted over the years to build healthy plants and soils. Larry’s journey is evidence that farming is rocket science. Larry may have had farming in his blood, but his path to regenerative agriculture took him through mechanical engineering, an aerospace career, to flower seed sales, and eventually, farming failures and successes. He’s seen it all and dedicates himself to the mantra of food is medicine. Today, his farm includes about 200 crops across 125-acres and a flock of sheep and herd of pigs. Monte draws out a key takeaway from our conversation when Larry talked about monoculture saying - when you're not building anything it's actually agribusiness, not agriculture. Larry’s investigative spirit spurs on his constant learning from the soil and the plants, as he says, "acquire that knowledge then get out of the way and see what happens."
